Where are the quartz Oris watches??

As I mentioned in my earlier post, Swatch attempted to position Oris as a maker of cheaper Swiss quartz watches (which fortunately did not work out as a long term prospect..

).
What I want to know is what did Oris produce between 1970 and 1982 when they broke away from Swatch?
Some time spent searching on the net for Oris quartz watches only returns a flood of fake Oris websites with cheap quartz movements.
Can anyone fill me in on that period of Oris history, and what they made?

i found this list on a watchmakers website . its a list of oris watches they have serviced . there are lots of quartz watches on the list with case numbers but not much other details or photos unfortunately

according to Oris CEO Mr. Herzog, Oris PR, the 100 Years book, and Forum members, Oris didn't make any quartz watches on their own. which is why their motto is "Purely Mechanical Swiss Watches."

i'd be curious if you happen to dig up anything...

Yes, I hope someone can clear this up. It seems there's a big gap where perhaps they weren't actually manufacturing but perhaps the Oris name was being used on other quartz watches?

Hello there, just signed up, Ihave had quite a few Oris watches over the years vintage and modern, still have a BC4 chrono as well as a quartz model.I came across this thread and forum while googling Oris Quartz watch, I came across one in a bag of watches that I bought on a car boot a couple of years ago, I still have it it's called an Oris Crystal , dial is white with baton markers and a date, dial also has swiss made at the bottom, watch case is stainless steel and the screw in back has the "oris" shield with Oris Watch Co. underneath with case number 6911 above. I was told by my watch man that they only done quartz models for a very short time and it had a similar if not the same movement as some Tissot watches but I'am not sure of that, cant see any identifying marks or numbers on the 3 jewel movement. it took me a while to find out how to set it as you can only move the hour hand by turning the crown to move the minute hand you have to press in the crown and then it just spins round untill you release it, havn't got any pics at the moment but I'll sort some out and post later as I need to get the back off to replace the battery. I must say I havn't been able to find out anything about them even after emailing Oris who couldn't give me any information.........Mark

Thanks for filling in a bit more info on Oris quartz, it does seem a bit mysterious. I suspect it's not a part of Oris's history they are proud of.
Please upload some pics of your quartz as soon as you're able - I'd love to see it.

Cool - thanks for posting those pics :biggrin:. It has a very classic 70's feel to it, a bit like the Seiko's from that period.
It's really weathered the years well, and could easily be a daily wearer.

What else have you got hiding in the watch box?

Just got hold of a Seiko Black Monster, also got a little Seiko ana - digi alarm chron. recently sold a load off to help fund building a big motorhome otherwise known as an RV, had a Rolex explorer 1, various Omega's mainly seamasters and speedmasters, a few vintage military watches, the odd Citizen, really to many to keep track of over the years,I'll try a few pics
