Problem after changing battery in my Longines Conquest VHP GMT

I changed the battery on my Longines Conquest vhp gmt. The watch had indicated that the battery needed changing (the second hand skip forward at 5 second intervals rather than 1 second at a time), which had just happened a couple of days ago. After changing the battery it would not go into energy saving mode and the only time it would show was the time the battery was changed. I was able to set it to the current time, but itwil now not reset to home time nor travel (GMT) time by using the flash function or by pushing the crown as it would do normally. The only time I can show by pushing the crown is the current time or the time the battery was replaced. Anybody have a suggestion or solution?

Yes, I have the manual. For some unknown reason all of the flash/setting issues had resolved themselves when I put it through it's paces this a.m., except the hands do not move to 12 oclock as they should when the crown is pulled out for energy saving, so it may not go into sleep mode. Perhaps it takes some time for recalibration once the new battery is installed..who knows. Anyway, I will call the service center to see if they have any answers/suggestions. Thanks for the response!
