I'm breaking "the rules" about sport watches with a suit, but I think this looks great! I'm wearing a red tie by the way...which of course makes all the difference.

I remember years ago hearing a fantastic sax riff on the radio. The DJ said it afterwords "This is dedicated to all budding saxophonists, give up" That's how your pics make me feel. :crying:Back to watches, I would wear a red with anything if i were lucky enough to own one.
Great pic, great watch.:D
Kind regards

I agree that most sports watches and suits don't really go together, but the Rolex Submariner seemS go with anything.

I'm just curious.

Hypothetically, if someone informed you that under no circumstances are you to show up wearing a sports watch for whatever you're doing today, which watch from your collection would you choose--or better yet, from which watches in your collection would you choose?

I break this rule often mostly by choice, however there are those times when the VP shows up and I have to put on the tie and coat. In all that is a great shot and the red tie will definately set off the red lettering or vise versa

I don't think there is any hard rules on this. Most ordinary people would not pay attention and see it's a diver. That's something we do notice, but we're no ordinary people.

If I would own a Rolex, I would go for it. I have my Omega 2254 as I type this, and I'm wearing a tie and it looks pretty good IMO

Of course, if you try to pull it off with a plastic digital Timex, than I would disagree with you John

I agree that if you want to get technical with the watch stuff, then maybe its better with a casual outfit, but with all of the people that wear an Ironman or other black rubber $30 watch with a suit, Al Gore & Bill Clinton included, any watch that costs several thousand should qualify as ok with a suit. :confused1: :001_tongue:

Honestly, it depends on the person and how they dress, how good they look in a suit...etc. That being said, I think John pulls off the sports watch with a suit look quite well. Especially with that pic, because he's sporting some fantastic threads, and the vintage time piece really pops with the outfit, giving a little James Bond flair to the outfit. A nice dress watch with a suit is never out of style, of course, but I love the "Break the Rules" look, and speaking from experience, as far as my own personal wardrobe goes, there is hardly a suit-shirt-tie combination that I can throw together that I wouldn't feel perfectly comfortable wearing my Sea-Dweller with. So that being said, since Bond will always be 007, then I've got dibs on 002...which "Double-0" would you like to be, secret agent Holbrook????

As long as it is not a problem for you and you like the combo, just do it. :thumbup1:
I know it's not the right reference number but don't forget to drink EXCLUSIVELY "...Vodka Martini, shaken, not stirred".

Bah, I don't follow many rules. I prefer guidelines, that way there is not such an issue when you invariably violate them.

I'd wear it and not even think that it was an issue. Besides, you need something to wear before you get that PT President.

John, don't be so hard on yourself my friend... just leave the suit home tomorrow, and put on a jump suit and Nikes instead. :D

Seriously, it looks great with a suit. Even the Pepsi GMT looks amazing with a suit. You just need to be a bit adventurous.
