OK here's the story....I'm going to pull the trigger on a Speedy moon to mars from our AD....My wife want's me to ask for free shipping since she's getting it for my early 50th B-day. I told her no way but would ask for a hat, pin, book etc. since this stuff usually comes free from Omega....So what do you think? :blushing:

Man-I remember when you were just dreaming about this day!!!

I don't think it would hurt to ask for free shipping AND a hat!!

The worst they can do is say no and you'll still have a grail piece.

Yes it won't hurt perhaps but considering he is already being very good to us, I'd be reluctant to push the envelope. The guy has to make a living after all. I know it may not amount to much but to a trader who has to make the bottom line mean something, every little bit helps.

My 2c

Wish you well with the transaction my friend

I agree with Zin (again). With the price you are paying, you are still saving money, with the shipping, over buying it anywhere else (from an AD). If you plan on doing more buying there, I wouldn't want a blemish on my "permanent record". Congrats on the birthday present

I would have to agree with Zin. The discounts sound almost unbeatable so I wouldn't mind the shipping charge. I've not bought from the "special" AD, but from what I've read he is a good, honest guy. Unfortunately I have not found much of that when it comes to luxury watch retailers. Alot of them seem to be real a$$e$ that don't want to help you unless you have the right look about you.:cursing: You know the type that don't acknowledge you if you happen to stop by in jeans and t-shirt.

That said, if he has some Omega promo stuff like a pen, then sure!

Mr Gregger,

we are conditioned today that we can always get a better deal.. I understand the idea and do not think you or your wife unreasonable for this expectation.. we all have it.. but in this case we know the folks are cutting to the bone (comparatively) and thats one of the perks to having such a wonderful source, no haggleing, but I might suggest of thinking of that going both ways.

it won't hurt to ask, but I would guess he would say no to the free shipping but he might say yes to a freebie or two:thumbup1: good luck:thumbup1:

Must agree with the majority on this, Gregger. I bought 4 of my 5 from our AD and I wouldn't presume to ask for more. He's already as good or better than the best around, and the freight is more than offset by what you save in PA Sales Tax!

Tell your wife that the AD has a lovely wife of close to 50 years, and she deserves some of the benes of her long and hard work in the business, also.

There's a place to go and a place to not go beyond!

I'll second the thoughts of Terry, Zin and a couple of others.

"Our AD" has been exceptionally good to us. While there is always the notion of "what's there to loose by asking", we should bear in mind that he is running a profitable venture, and is taking a comparative hit on his profit margins.

I've gotten both of my Omega's from them, and when the time comes for the next, I'm just going to call him and settle right away. In fact, that's what I did when I got the PO, as I trusted his quote and service. I didn't bother checking prices anywhere else.

I can only request that should you be successful in getting free shipping/extras, that you do not spread the word about the same. I fear that if it gets out that the AD did oblige, then he'll be inundated with similar requests, which may (or may not) force them to rethink their discounting policies.

Also, they ship UPS 2nd day, and the value of the package typically exceeds $1000. So UPS does their best to get it out of their hands at the earliest. In most cases it's delivered the next day.

And congratulations on your new watch. Do post some pictures when you get it!

Update...No I'm not going to ask for shipping...that was to humor the wife. Since he has to get the watch from his supplier I'll ask for a pen.....so I can sign the check  I'm going to order the watch today.....:thumbup1:
