I'm been looking the [non-sponsor removed] website for additional straps for my M57 and I must say the straps all look great but surely there are other brands worth considering.

Any ideas guys :confused1:

Oh... don't get me started...

I was a big fan of Panerai once and quite addicted to changing straps constantly. Sometimes twice a day...

It really depends on what you want - as always.

If you like it a bit more formal, I've found [non-sponsor removed]

Also [non-sponsor removed] are said to be pretty good, but I've never tried them, as they're just pretending to be something they're not (vintage diver straps). If that flows your boat, Kostas straps is the go to guy.

Hope it helps,

Marc

Here are some I had custom made for my M6:

Made from Suisse mashine gun bags from WWII (GENUINE WWII leather there)

Watch Hand Analog watch Clock Natural material

Electric blue Jewellery Strap Metal Fashion accessory

I sanded the tapered part down a bit in the meanwhile though, so it's on par with the lugs in opposite to being wider. SO much better after taking 0.5mm off on each side.

Also Suisse leather, but from an ammo pouch from WWII

Helmet Hood Sleeve Automotive tire Motor vehicle

And an older baseball, that was turned into a strap.

Luggage and bags Bag Grey Audio equipment Everyday carry

Watch Hand Analog watch Automotive tire Clock

The MP43 and the rubber strap that came with the watch are my favorites.

Cheers,

Marc

Should we be promoting non-sponsor strapmakers because there are quite a few strapmakers for a variety of budget ranges that are sponsors that I feel deserve mentioning.

Check this link for a list of forum sponsors: WATCH TALK FORUMS - Sponsors

I personally have experience with both Rob Montana (The Strapsmith) and Times of Plenty (Scott Allison) and I can't recommend either enough. Both make excellent, high-end custom straps.

...and there's an esteemed member of our very own forum, whom I call "The Strap Maestro", who does just the most excellent work...if you talk to him nicely

(mods, sorry if i should not post links)

I love straps :)

My favs are my XXXXXXX Hornback and XXXXXXX Orange Silicone
Hornback goes on my M50 and Pam and the Silicone on my M50

I have a XXXXXXX that is a KILLER strap
also my XXXXXX rocks!

I have traded emails with several of the custom makers
all are responsive and do great work

keep in mind the custom guys sometimes have a LONG lead time

I have deleted the names and Links to not offend other members

best

Just a personal experience yet:

I found the min. amount of taper that you get with a 24/22mm strap like LT uses it on their M series looks a lot better on a LT than the 24/24mm straps you'd use on a Panerai. You might keep that in mind.

Cheers,

The hornback on my pam is a 24/22
Hornback on M50 is 24/24

For some reason, the XXXX 24/24 fits me better
than my XXX XXXXX 24/22
maybe my imagination or the XXX xx is more broken in

Also I like the black thumbnails and i have to have 24 and 22 to make it work :)

I am not a fan of the "pre V" big buckles, like the thumbnails

However the Big Ass Brass one really rocks from XXXXXXXXX :)

I didn't think such a question would cause this conflict, my only reason for asking was the fact that googling produced ****ty options and I felt where better than here for decent quality straps at great value. I can't recall who it was who posted links but if you could PM me them I would be forever grateful.

my pleasure bud

there are tons of guys out there that make straps
quality and delivery time vary alot

some great offerings on the (blasphemy:) Rep Sites

there are two guys that i traded emails with to build a strap
we argreed on terms and style
they they dissapeared

maybe too busy, maybe too many tire kickers

something to keep in mind:
I had one purchase that i installed the strap
wore it for a day
that night looked under a magnifier and found it was
NOT was described

reseller claimed this was the ONLY way that strap could be built
told me i had worn it and out of plastic, so NO $$ back

this strap was a hornback
good quality BUT
there were two pieces of hornback
spliced and glued on to a piece of gator
resellers claimed this was the only way to make one

i had at the time a Ted Su hornback one piece
i told him this and he claimed i was mistaken
that impossible to make a one piece hornback

well, he aint getting any more of my $, despite his
good line of straps

I think the rules are here:

NO PIC = BANNED for life

I would suggest to anyone...
the final delivered product may be BETTER or WORSE than you think
just keep that in mind

that is the same for all 'net purchases unless you have pick up something
locally and touched and smelt it before order....

What is it with [non-sponsor removed] and the amount of straps out of stock? Most of the ones I'm wanting are unavailable.:confused1:
Noticed the same thing.. I guess that means they've been selling a lot of straps!
