This is probably a rookie question, but I can't seem to find a reference number on this watch listed in ebay. I asked the seller and he said there's no reference # on his international warranty card.... Is this a fake? Or rare? Please fill me in!!! Thanks a lot

The white dial SMP's are desired by a lot of collectors. They were not so much when they were in production, however. It is sort of like a art. The work is truly appreciated, in value and interpretation, after the artist has died. Now that these watches are out of production, many enthusiasts want to add them to their collection.

Looks like a legit example of an older model quartz. Discontinued right around 2000. Not exactly sure of the ref#, but either a 2542.20 or a 2042.20 using the older table methodology. Looks kinda beat up. Should stay in the $700 range and will need some tlc, maybe $200 worth of service costs. Or just stick a new battery in it for $25 and go!

I just asked the seller if it was an automatic or a quartz, ideally i'd like an automatic. If it's quartz i probably won't bid on it, nothing against a quartz, but if i'm gonna get an omega, i want a coaxial :001_tongue:

How could you tell right off if it is a quartz or not??

OT, but that article needs to be updated :T

No. while many models of the OMEGA Seamaster have been made with black dials and black bezels, OMEGA confirms that the skeleton-hand version of the Seamaster Professional -- including both the Professional Diver and Chronograph (commonly known as the 'James Bond' versions, introduced 1993 and still available in 2000) have never been made with either a black dial or a black bezel.
