It´s "only" whitegold :blushing:
Thank you for clarifying--all of the platinum models I have seen have had that powder blue dial so I obviously just assumed. White gold is also extremely nice and it must be a privilege to wear. The dial looks quite nice. I have always admired the platinum Day/Date for it's shininess, but the white gold model is probably what I would actually buy for myself because the platinum is twice as expensive! Enjoy your holiday. :001_smile:

Technically speaking, the ice blue dial is exclusive to the platinum model. However, in Europe (not here in the US) you can buy dials, braclets, clasps, etc. so it's not hard to buy a white gold Day Date and install the ice blue dial.

If I had a choice of Rolex to wear, I think I would opt for the blue / gold two tone Submariner. A watch I first thought tacky and was put off by some of the participants on a large watch forum. Then when I joined WTF about 6 or so months ago I saw a picture of JBHII's tt Sub and it looked stunning. It really made me lok at the Rolex divers in a whole new light. Unfortunately, I cannot see it being worn on my wrist for some time. So on Christmas Day, I'll be heading off to Mass wearing my Omega SMP Bond (I hope you guys don't mind). In fact, if I didn't have a watch on this Christmas, I wouldn't be too fussed. Nothing can make me feel down this Christmas.
All the best to you all this Christmas.

This is what I thought, which explains my "jumping to conclusions" I guess. Thanks for the information. :001_smile:

If I could afford the Platinum, I think that I just might choose it over the White Gold version of the Day/Date, although I like that one as well. I just assumed I would eventually pick up the white gold version because it is almost 50% less expensive. But I did have a chance to view the platinum in "real life" and it is stunning how platinum gives off such a nice shine--I was impressed. :001_smile:

Whilst you can buy dials etc separately here, i think Rolex are quite strict as to how and why you do it, i mean if you wanted the ice-blue dial which is exclusive to the platinum DD, you wouldn't be able to retro-fit it to say a WG one as Rolex would need to see the old one as proof of a required replacement. Neither can you order the exlcusive WG Daytona dials to fit to a SS model. I personally like that Rolex operate this way, it adds the gravity and appropriate respect to the various models, i mean, i wouldn't feel right if i tried to fool people by fitting an 'exclusive' dial to a more affordable model, that's not what Rolex is about for me! Besides, there would always be someone (like a WTF member) who would rumble you!

Since I purchased the Red dial Sea Shark I have had more compliment ib it then most of my other watches.

Wife suggested I wear it for Christmas instead of my Rolex or Ball since it has such a striking Red dial.

I think I'll listen to her. I always do!!!

Merry Christmas
