The first "nice" watch I ever bought was a Rolex Date-Just; paid $1,100.00 for it back in '86. The dumbest thing I ever did was buy that watch. I was an E-5 in the Navy, and really had better things to spend money on.

The second dumbest thing I ever did was sell it...

I understand what you mean exactly. Its that pleasure and guilt trip you get. That's why I never sell any watches even if I dislike them. I figure one day I might like it again

I originally bought a Seiko Bullhead in 1979 upon getting my first job after college while on a training trip to NYC. I bought it in Times Square for $140 if I remember correctly, and was wearing it when I got married in 1982. It was stolen in 1985 in a home buglary in Jacksonville, Fl. Three years ago I bought another from a sales forum, as I always loved the design.

Seiko Bullhead... manufactured in 1976.

I have an old cheap Timex idiglo day/date that I hate and never wear. But if I sold it, I may not even get $20 for it; I'd rather keep it around just for numbers sake:001_tongue:

I can't remember the first watch I bought, I think I was in 2nd grade. My first watch that I really coveted, my girlfriend (now wife) bought, and gave me for X-mas 2 years ago, the Mount Royal. It's a cheapo, but I absolutely love it because it is the thinnest and most comfortable SS watch I own. Then came a Lucien Piccard, then an Invicta, which started all this madness.:001_rolleyes:

The first watch I bought was a Casio Databank. I was in gradeschool and mobile phones weren't around yet. Being able to store phone numbers in the watch was a great feature. I don't remember the model number, but it looked like this one

When I was kid, my dad had bought what ever cheap watch he could find if I really needed one. Then when I started high school, he bought me a Swatch w/ the guard. It was black and the entire face was luminous. I had that thing for about 4 years then it died.

Sometime in the 90s in college, I bought a Guess watch from the Guess store. It was some kind of dive style chrono. I wore that thing for about 5 years before it died too. The chronograph stopped about 3 years and it had condensation in it.

I can only say I am glad I have had this addiction to watches recently start since I have a little more disposable income. If it kicked in when I was in college, things would have been a lot different.

not my first watch but I still have the Casio Databank 150, used and abused.
The one you have pictured is a Data50 or Data100 (can't remember?) it had smaller
memory
I still have 137 phone numbers in this one. And it still works, that date and time was when
I took the pic

Until I went into the service it was always a hand me down watch or a cheap timex. My first watch I paid for myself was a Seiko Navigator Timer watch, it had a rotating 24 hour dial and a seperate hand for that. Still have it.
