Hello I've been fiddling with a couple on my watches to tune them for better precision. However, my concern is that no matter how tight I'll have screwed down the case back when I'm finished, will the water resistance be compromised?

The simple answer is yes. That is why service and certification of water resistance is an extra cost.

I had a watch repairman ask me once why I was concerned so much about water resistance and testing and such. Did I go diving or swimming with my watch? I said no, I don't ever swim and I don't even wear my watch in the shower. He said then don't worry. Good and tight is probably good enough.

I put my watch in water for 20 min. and it did just fine, I put it next to another watch that I haven't opened and they both are fine.
