Hey everyone, earlier today I was skipping through channels on the TV and ran into a show called 106 and park on BET. Well they had rap videos playing and it was kind of cool to watch. All the rappers had these bling bling watches. I tried so hard but could not tell what kind they are.

Does anyone know what rappers are wearing these days? Seems like they are all platinum watches.

I've seen them at Dakota Watch. They are at least 50mm, look like platinum and diamonds, but only cost about $50.00. All show, no go.

Yeah, I have seen watches like that. But these rappers have a lot of money these days. I really think they are expensive. Just trying to find out if they are custom made or if there is a brand or 2 that actually make them.

Thanks banned, I looked at the Haimov and they have some watches that are over 60k. Very expensive. But what I am seeking by some rappers are very huge watches that I have yet to see in a store or online. Any more brands?

It was around November or December and there was some NBA game on ESPN I was watching...anyway Floyd Mayweather I think was sitting behind one of the benches and they kept doing close ups of him watching the game. During a time out, they did one of their 30 second interviews...all I can say was SHAZAM!!!! I have no clue what he was wearing, but that thing looked like it was at least 55 mm with insane amounts of diamonds. I wouldn't necessarily say that all the rappers wear crazy diamonds, just people who have large amounts of disposable income.

That's what I am talking about. They are wearing 55mm+ watches with jewels that would light up a whole house.

Sometimes the rappers don't even own them, the record lable rents them for the videos. They also do that with some of the "cribs" that rappers show off on MTV. All about looking the look.

Jay Z wears an Audemars Piguet as well as pieces from Jacob and Co, but to name a brand that rappers wear is difficult because rappers are individuals and there are guys who wear everything from Timex to Patek. The company that probably gets the most pub as the watch of hip hop is indeed Jacob & Co. He owes many of his millions to the hip hop nation because he never shied away from being associated with hip hop and in fact sought out a relationship 20 or more years ago. He has been rewarded with lots of publicity and customers.
Diamonds and gold have always been a part of the hip hop culture and there are now lots of companies that put diamonds on their watches and jewelers who can bling out any watch since hip hop has become more mainstream. I'm sure someone has a diamond covered Casio out there.

But to more accurately answer your question, a lot of the watches you see are Jacob. Jacob forged a relationship with B.I.G. In the early 90s and since then, he has always been regarded as THE jeweler for the culture. However there are a lot of customs going on as well. A lot of the watches are simply diamond embelished cheapies. Not really CHEAP, but not quality timepieces.. The money is in the jewels.

I've seen Kanye and Pharrel wear a lot of rare G-shocks, and John Mayer although not a rapper, wears a Platinum IWC Big Pilot as well as many Panerai models.

I think the diamond crusted Breitlings are extremely common in prosports as well.
