I just purchased my first watch winder. With my Rolex, should I have it turn clockwise or counter clockwise or, does it make any difference?:confused1:

Thanks for helping me out with the info:thumbup1:

I moved here from Greensboro about 10 years ago. First on Oak Island and now Boiling Spring Lakes.

The answers you've received are correct - I would just add that if your winder has a bi-directional mode, this will be best for the winding system and will even out the wear.
Thanks John, I really like the winder but with all I have heard about some breaking down I thought I would give this thing about 6 mos and then right a review on it. I don't want to give a first look bunch of accolades possibly causing someone to pull the trigger on the same model just to find it does not last. I think 6 mos is a good starting point.

Hmmm....I'm not entirely sure you read my response correctly...or that I was clear anyway. I was refering to the wear on the winding system of the watch, not the winder itself. :D

Watch winder for the hoi polloi

I have a vintage Rolex GMT 'Pepsi' just got it back had it serviced works great but have to wear it all the time to keep the date correct, and that means I'm scratching it up doing whatever, a reasonably priced winder would be great, didn't think about Costco, I hear the name Orbita being used, am I on the right trail?

Accutron watch winder from AMAZON

I have bought 2 Accutron watch winders from AMAZON they work pretty well. They run off of AC power but can also use C batteries. This is a handy feature for people who like to keep their watches in a safe. Best part, it's less than $60.

In addition to the answers given that Rolex watches are bi-directional, the correct tpd (turns per day) for most Rolexes is 650 tpd.

Another winder to look at is the Rotolution (Watch Winders)

I have an Orbita Bellino and also a Sparta. Both are very nice, but I was able to purchase a used Rotolution and I much prefer it to the other winders. The Orbitas are relatively quiet. I can, however, still hear them operating when I am in the room. The Rotolution, however, makes no sound that I can detect and it's programmability via computer USB is a really neat feature.

Has anyone tried a Landmark watch winder on their vintage rolex? I like that they build in a rest period into the winding, and also goes both directions. I think you can also set the TPD. Their price is good as well, but after looking at the other companies mentioned here, I'm wondering if I would be getting what I paid for? Comparatively to the Orbita and Rotolution, it is significantly less expensive. My husband's vintage Rolex GMT Master has been losing time and I thought a winder would be helpful but cannot afford the really expensive ones but also don't want to waste money on something that won't be beneficial. Thanks for your thoughts.
