Welcome to the February edition of the WATCH TALK FORUMS Newsletter! And yes....it's a couple of days late. Sorry.

WATCH TALK FORUMS SITE REDESIGN - UPDATE!

For the past 2 months, I've been telling you about the coming refresh of WATCH TALK FORUMS and our site. It's been an extremely challenging project, and there have been a number of delays. But I'm excited to tell you that we're very close to being able to go live with the new site - click on the link below to read more:

IWC FACTORY TOUR COMING!!

I've been invited to Schaffhausen Switzerland to visit IWC and do a factory tour, so look for a factory photo tour article from me coming in April, after I finish my Basel reports. Speaking of Basel....

WATCH TALK FORUMS AT BASELWORLD 2010!

One of the things that the dollars which come in from the WTF Patron Program goes towards is the capability for WATCH TALK FORUMS to attend and cover the Basel Watch Fair - Baselworld. While Patron Program participation is still below what we need to be able to fully fund such a venture, I'm going to go ahead and make the personal investment to attend and cover Baselworld for our community. I've secured full journalist credentials (with photo privileges) and have appointments set with the following brands so far:

*All Swatch Group Brands (Omega, Hamilton, etc.)

*Rolex

*Breitling

*Ball

*Carl F. Bucherer

*MB&F

*Hermes

*Urwerk

*Mühle-Glashütte

In addition to the above, I'll be hitting as many booths as I can for the three days I'll be in Basel, introducing WATCH TALK FORUMS to as many brands as possible, and gather all the information I can. So look for an extensive Basel report when I return (and catch up on some sleep)!

4th Annual NYC GTG!!!!

The 4th Annual NYC GTG will be here before you know it (Sat. May 15th , 2010). Discounted hotel rates at a group rate are also available for those watch fans that will stay in NY the whole weekend. Register for the event HERE while the space is still available.

WHAT'S IN YOUR WATCH BOX?

Have you tried using the "My Watch Box" feature, here on WTF? Many of our members have had some really great things to say about it! If you need some help setting up yours, simply click here for the hand-dandy tutorial I created.

You can add watches to your Watch Box based on the available number of slots you have open in your Watch Box. All Registered Members have one slot available in their watch boxes. One of the many benefits of joining the WATCH TALK FORUMS Patron Program is having additional slots added to your Watch Box:

Stainless Steel Patrons

-10 slots in the "Current Collection" Watch Box

-5 slots in the "Previously Owned" Watch Box

-5 slots in the "Wish List" Watch Box

Gold Patrons

-20 slots in the "Current Collection" Watch Box

-20 slots in the "Previously Owned" Watch Box

-10 slots in the "Wish List" Watch Box

Platinum Patrons

-99 slots in the "Current Collection" Watch Box

-99 slots in the "Previously Owned" Watch Box

-99 slots in the "Wish List" Watch Box

You can join the WTF Patron Program by clicking here.

2010 WATCH TALK FORUMS PATRON PROGRAM CAMPAIGN

Every day, we're seeing the ranks of WTF Members joining the Patron Program grow! Thanks SO MUCH to everyone who has joined the program!! We're on our way to the goal of 1000 Patron members in 2010!

For 2010, we're enhancing the WTF Patron Program significantly, and providing some strong benefits which only Patron Program members will enjoy.

WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THE PATRON PROGRAM? WHY IS WATCH TALK FORUMS ASKING FOR DONATIONS FROM MEMBERS?

The Patron Program began at the end of 2008 as a way to help fund the growth of WTF. Our commercial WTF Forum Sponsors essentially cover the basic overhead costs of the site. However, we have no budget for things we desperately need like travel (to get to places like Basel or SIHH for example so we can bring our community a first hand account of the new watches which are introduced every year) and advertising (so that we can draw in even more participation in our various forums which is more fun for everyone), and compensating the Admin Team for article work (who work as volunteers currently) so we can generate more professional content for the site which we all can enjoy.

We started the Patron Program with the understanding that the primary benefits to the contributing member was the recognition within the community for being a Patron Program Member, and the satisfaction which comes from contributing to a worthwhile cause. Based on the extremely low participation in the Patron Program in 2009, it was clear that there was not enough incentive for Registered Members to become Patron Program Members.

SO WHAT'S CHANGED WITH THE 2010 PATRON PROGRAM? WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF CONTRIBUTING FINANCIALLY TO WATCH TALK FORUMS?

Last year we started rolling out our brand new Patron Program. This program is designed to provide a lot of added value to our Patron Program Members, with MANY new and positive benefits for them, including:
  • NEW and EXCITING system functionality - the "My Watch Box" feature which allows you to showcase your collection for all to see!
  • Special pricing and discounts which WTF Forum Sponsors will ONLY make available to WTF Patron Program Members!!!
  • Exciting drawings and giveaways for watches and watch related accessories which will only be available for Patron Program members!
  • Sales Forum posting privileges - Since the start of this year only Patron Program members and Forum Sponsors are permitted to post in the Sales Forum.

<WHEW!> That's it for this months installment. Again, sorry for the lateness, but the site upgrade is taking up most of my spare time right now...
