THE BEAUTY OF TIME
THE OMEGA LADIES’ DE VILLE CHOCOLATE

One of OMEGA’s special offerings in the Ladies’ De Ville collection takes its' inspiration from a great Swiss tradition which has been established with an enviable international reputation, that of chocolate-making.

The latest De Ville Co-Axial chronograph models for ladies, affectionately known as "Chocolate" offers a new luxury design that is based on the successful 35mm case. It is available in polished 18-carat red gold or stainless steel with a matching bezel set with 42, 1.68ct diamonds that sparkle against the sumptuous background of a chocolate-coloured dial with contrasting elliptical pinkish-brown mother-of-pearl chronograph counters and small seconds sub-dial. A new "truncated sector" date window is located between 10 and 11 o’clock. Not only does this allow an uncluttered presentation of the chronograph display but the sector configuration also allows at-a-glance reading of the date, since if the minute hand happens to be obscuring the date, the previous and following dates remain visible. As the ultimate touch of luxury, a diamond "briolette" (0.08 ct) is set into the crown of the watch.

Between applied and facetted hour markers, the watch’s facetted and diamond-polished lozenge-shaped hands can be read off against a minute scale graduated to one quarter of a second. Such precision timekeeping is made possible by the Omega calibre 3313 chronograph movement. Using Omega’s proprietary Co-Axial technology with the free sprung-balance which offers greater running stability, this self-winding movement is equipped with a column wheel. This is a ratchet wheel with columns that govern the precision operation of various levers for the chronograph functions. Column-wheel chronographs are widely recognised as the finest chronograph movements available. However, they remain exclusive, since very few manufacturers are capable of producing this highly sophisticated mechanism. As a prestige movement, the OMEGA calibre 3313 naturally has an exclusive finish with circular graining, Geneva wave decoration, rhodium-plated surfaces and gold-plated engravings to accompany the blued-steel centre screw. All these scintillating details are visible through the transparent sapphire crystal case back. The movement’s precision is attested by its chronometer certificate issued by the official Swiss chronometer testing institute COSC. The OMEGA Co-Axial calibre 3313 delivers a power reserve of 55 hours.

Despite its distinctive look, the jewellery model nevertheless retains certain unmistakable De Ville Co-Axial characteristics, such as the distinctive stainless-steel case derived from the top-of-the-range Central Tourbillon model. Evidence of its’ high attention to detail is provided by the grooves on the under side of the pushers. The watch is also water resistant to 100m/330ft, courtesy of a screw-in crown with a double-gasket and a screw-in case back, the latter of which is fitted with the previously-described transparent sapphire crystal. The unique dial is protected by a domed scratch-resistant sapphire crystal with anti-reflective treatment on the inside.

These breathtakingly-desirable and luxurious models are complemented by a calfskin leather strap in a unique shade of brown that matches the dial and is fitted with a matching polished 18-carat red gold or stainless-steel foldover clasp.

OMEGA CONSTELLATION QUADRELLA

First introduced in 2004 and immediately turning heads, the Constellation Quadrella introduced its curvaceous shape to the four diamond set “claws” on the case are the classic design reference of this “ Connie ” which was first introduced in 1952. Characteristic of the Constellation, the strap is integrated into the stainless steel case by way of two half-moon facets that form an elegant transition between the case and strap. The unusual rounded barrel shape of the case is enhanced by the sparkle of diamonds, a rainbow of precious stones, mother-of-pearl and brightly coloured alligator straps. Two versions of this new Constellation were presented: the Quadrella (32.60 x 25 mm) on a colourful alligator strap or the “Mini” (25.30 x 19.30 mm) available in stainless steel with a matching metal bracelet with or without diamonds as well as 18-carat gold or 18-carat gold/stainless steel versions.

Quadrella Mini with diamonds

Key to the Constellation Quadrella’s look are the four central claws or “griffes”. This classic design reference has been updated and the claws are now oversized. Further enhancing this feature, on the Quadrella each “griffe” is set with 12 diamonds while on the “Mini” there are 15 of these precious stones on each claw. The use of Roman numerals is also characteristic of the Constellation family but the Quadrella adds a twist by using two different-sized painted quarter numerals. The remaining hour markers are set with rubies, emeralds and blue and orange sapphires that together with the lustre of the mother-of-pearl dial create a very feminine and individual look. The Omega logo is applied to the dial and complements the tapered, facetted and diamond polished hands. The watch’s domed scratch-resistant sapphire crystal follows the same rounded contours as the case and is coated with an anti-reflective treatment on the inside. Like all Omega watches, the Quadrella benefits from a robust construction and high-quality standards that guarantee water-resistance to 30 metres.

Quadrella Mini without diamonds

The Constellation Quadrella received a makeover in 2006 with a fresh range of colours for its wardrobe. The energy of summer came to life with ‘green anis’, ‘ice blue’, white and red straps that complement the coloured precious stone hour markers and the gleaming white mother-of-pearl dial making this the accessory of the season.

True to its origins, the case back of the Quadrella is decorated with the “Observatory Medallion” that reminds us of Omega’s associations with astronomy and space discovery. A shorter deployant bar is available on the colour alligator straps or on a new generation of stainless steel bracelets for the “Mini”. Both the straps and bracelets are secured in place with a foldover clasp. All Quadrella models are powered by the precision Omega quartz calibre 1376, which has a battery life of 32 months.

OMEGA SEAMASTER AQUA TERRA

The OMEGA Aqua Terra made its’ debut on the world’s horological stage at the Basel Fair in 2002. Two years later it was to be adorned with not only the luxury of mother-of-pearl and diamonds, but also with its own genuine heartbeat. The latest models to be introduced in the Ladies' 28mm case size were fitted with a self-winding movement of a classic mechanical timepiece.

The Aqua Terra with its distinct though subtle retro and classic styling made it one of the highlights of the Fair. With a design based on the Omega Railmaster of the 1950s, it therefore incorporates the classic tapered lugs of the Speedmaster while maintaining the sober elegance of the Seamaster dials from the same period. When introduced into the current Seamaster collection, the Aqua Terra was the perfect complement to the otherwise sporty and rugged watches born of Omega's longstanding association with ocean exploration. This is particularly true for the ladies' models, which offer an elegantly feminine interpretation of this wonderfully perceptive classic design.

The Ladies' Seamaster Aqua Terra comes in a 28mm case with a mix of brushed and polished elements in stainless steel or 18-carat yellow-gold with a screw-in crown and screw-in case back ensuring water resistance to a depth equivalent of 150 metres. In both cases, there is a choice between the classic Aqua Terra look with a simple matching polished stainless-steel or polished 18-carat yellow gold bezel and white mother-of-pearl dial with facetted hour markers, or the sumptuous glitter of diamonds.

In the latter case, the bezel is set with 42 diamonds (0.733 carat) and the white mother-of-pearl dial bears 11 diamond hour markers (0.192 carat). A highly individual "two-tone" model is also available, with a polished stainless-steel case, polished 18-carat red gold bezel, 18-carat red gold crown and a stainless-steel bracelet with 18-carat red-gold central section.

Regardless of this choice between "classic" and "luxury" versions, the dial bears the familiar Aqua Terra Dauphine hands with luminous SuperLuminova inserts and an applied Omega symbol. Rounded off by a date window at 3 o'clock. The attractive and classic dial is protected by a domed scratch-resistant sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective coating on the inside.

Despite its modest dimensions, the ladies' Aqua Terra boasts a fully-fledged self-winding mechanical movement. Nevertheless, it meets the same exacting operating specifications and has the same high-quality finish as the larger models used in gents' watches, boasting a 42-hour power reserve when fully wound and an exclusive white rhodium-plated finish of Geneva waves, circular graining and gold-plated engravings. Bearing its own internal jewels, in the form of 20 synthetic rubies which are the perfect bearing for the wheel train arbors and escapement mountings, the calibre 2520 is also fitted with the "Etachron" regulator assembly for precision adjustment of its going rate.

Available with a matching bracelet in 18-carat yellow gold or stainless steel, the new ladies' Aqua Terra Automatic is the perfect watch for ladies looking for an exquisite touch of luxury in an all-round, classic and versatile performer.

OMEGA SPEEDMASTER AUTOMATIC WITH DIAMONDS

The Speedmaster Professional was a result of the watchmaking tradition, innovation and design that form the basis for every new creation from OMEGA. Current models of the watch bear characteristics of the timepiece that found fame over five decades ago. The name Speedmaster stands not only for a chronograph collection of the highest technical order but also for a design with universal appeal making it a prime candidate for OMEGA’s designers to adapt it for the wrist of a lady.

The result therefore is the OMEGA Speedmaster Automatic with diamonds, a chronograph with a breathtakingly luxurious and glamorous design featuring a mother-of-pearl dial and diamond-set bezel.

The heart of the watch is a self-winding chronograph movement, the OMEGA calibre 3220. With an emphasis to combine Feminine aesthetics with watchmaking tradition, this special model was therefore created in four versions, three with mother-of-pearl dials and large numerals in silver grey as in the model depicted reference 3815.72.55 and white or light blue, combined with leather straps in the same colour tones. The fourth model in this remarkable collection has a black mother-of-pearl dial with diamond hour markers and a black leather strap. As with the larger-sized Speedmasters, all leather straps in this range are presented with deployment clasps.

OMEGA DE VILLE CO-AXIAL CHRONOGRAPH
LADIES LIMITED EDITION

Thursday 25 October 2007

The second OMEGA limited edition model commemorating next year’s Olympic Games in Beijing will be launched on 25 October 2007, 288 days before the Opening Ceremony. The collection, based on the phenomenally successful OMEGA De Ville Co-Axial Chronograph Ladies’, comes in three colours alluding to the Olympic podium: yellow gold, white gold and red gold.

OMEGA and the Olympic Games have been inextricably linked for the past 75 years, ever since the famous Swiss watch company became Official Timekeeper to the 1932 Games in Los Angeles. Next year will be the 23rd time OMEGA has taken on that responsibility, a tribute to its precision and reliability.

Now, in honour of the Games of the XXIX Olympiad, OMEGA is unveiling a special collection of watches for distribution in China and certain selected OMEGA stores worldwide. The theme for OMEGA’s new collection revolves around the number “8”, considered a lucky one in China.

The collection was launched on 8 August this year with the Constellation limited edition, and following the launch of the three gold ladies’ De Ville chronographs there will be subsequent limited edition launches 188 days, 88 days and eight days before the Games, with the sixth and final launch on the day the Olympic Games begin, 08/08/2008. The number of models available in each limited edition varies, but the figure will always end in an “8”. Thus 288 of the new De Ville ladies’ watches have been made in each of the three colours.

Along with the white mother-of-pearl dial and alligator strap, the fundamental characteristics of the OMEGA De Ville Co-Axial Chronograph Ladies’ are all there: the 0.08-carat diamond briolette set on the crown; the polished 18-carat gold bezel set with 42 diamonds; the elliptical chronograph counters; the 35mm case; and the exclusive OMEGA Calibre 3313 with Co-Axial escapement.

But of course it is the differences that make this model part of the Beijing Collection. Whether yellow gold, white gold or red gold, each has 18-carat gold dial and hands to match the case; the hour markers are set with one, two or three diamonds; and there are gold outer rings on the counters and white Super-LumiNova on the hands. On the counterweight of the chronograph seconds hand are the five Olympic rings, while stamped on the caseback is the Beijing 2008 logo – both characteristics common to all six of the OMEGA Olympic Collection limited edition lines.

The third in the series, a special piece from OMEGA’s celebrated Seamaster collection, will be launched on 2 February 2008, 188 days before the Games.

OMEGA CONSTELLATION DOUBLE EAGLE
CO-AXIAL LADIES CHRONOGRAPH

Introduced at Baselworld 2007, the Constellation 35 mm Automatic Co-Axial Chronograph was conceived as a sports watch with the sophistication of a luxurious touch. The blend of 18-carat red gold with a rich chocolate brown dial and sporty rubber strap is set alight with the fire of diamonds, providing an appearance and presence that will charm by day and be worn in style in the evening.

In a 35 mm case, its’ size is ideal for ladies who are looking for a bigger watch but not willing to sacrifice femininity. The “claws” or “griffes” on the bezel which were first introduced as hallmark feature of the Constellation Line in 1982 is set with 64 diamonds. The new rubber sports strap is neatly integrated into the case by way of two half-moon facets that form an elegant transition between the two. The design philosophy of this special watch with its accent on style, elegance and detail is patent in features such as the contrast between the highly polished gold chronograph push buttons, the crown, the inner bezel and the matt satin finish of the case. Even the crown itself is set with a briolette diamond and 32 diamonds totalling 1.43 carats.

The deep brown colour of the dial is achieved through a PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition) treatment that creates the perfect backdrop for the pink-brown mother-of-pearl 12-hour and thirty minute sub dials. These are interestingly set alongside each other to form a figure of eight that especially draws the eye. A third sub dial featuring a discreet small seconds counter, is found at 9 o’clock. The twelve solid red gold hour markers are facetted and polished to catch the light while the 18-carat red gold Dauphine style hands are also facetted and bear Super-LumiNova inserts. The 18-carat red gold Constellation star symbol is featured on the dial, to match the Omega logo and symbol. A gently domed scratch-proof sapphire crystal with anti-reflective treatment on both sides ensures that the dial is highly visible even in conditions of extraneous light.

This COSC certified chronometer is powered by OMEGA’s exceptional self-winding Calibre 3313, equipped with a Co-Axial escapement which offers a power reserve of 52 hours. This column-wheel mechanism serves to perfect the chronograph’s performance in ensuring a smooth start to the sweep of the seconds hands when the chronograph is activated and provides precision stop and reset functions. The rhodium-plated movement has been given a luxurious finish and the bridges are decorated with attractive circular graining, Geneva waves and gold-plated engravings, all of which are visible through the sapphire crystal screw-in case back. The watch is also available in Titanium or stainless steel to match the existing gentleman’s model, is water resistant to 100 metres / 330 feet.

The Constellation Double Eagle 35 mm Co-Axial Chronograph is presented on a brown rubber strap. As a final touich of luxury, it securely fastens on the wrist by way of an 18-carat brushed red gold foldover clasp decorated with a polished Omega logo.
