Sometimes we look forward to something so much that it is inevitable that it doesn't live up to the expectations. However, in the case of my BNIB "LE Gemini IV First Space Walk 40th Anniversary Speedmaster Pro" (hereby known as the Blue-on-Blue) I was not dissapointed at all. In fact it has surpassed any expectations I had.

The blue dial and bezel are simply stunning :001_tt1: but, unfortunately, almost impossible to photograph to full justice. The hand applied hour markers and Omega symbol really emphasise the blue of the dial even further and add a real bit of class. On the case back is the usual engravings announcing the 40th Anniversary of the Sppedmasters first Space Walk and the limited edition number given to this wath. This all surrounds the ceramic and Sapphire Crystal "Patch" of the Gemini IV mission along with the two commanders names McDivitt and White. Even the box and warranty card holders are special. Coming in a grey linen-type fabric (I'd like to think reminiscent of the NASA space suits). There is also a special Certificate of Authentication with a rather nice introduction to the watch by Stephen Urquhart and the limited number of 1221 (in this case) out of 2005 quoted all finished off with Mr Urquhart's signature. More on this in a future post.

All in all a stunning package and one that I will truly cherish for a long time. I couldn't be happier.

Here's my first attempts at trying to photograph this beautiful timepiece and the wonderful accessories:

Hey Tricks

Reading what you had to say about everything that came with the watch, isn't it just Omega's style to embellish a special watch in this way? Glad you're pleased with your purchase pal :thumbup::thumbup:

Hi Zin,

The attention to detail in the whole package is superb. I couldn't have asked for more.:thumbup::thumbup:

Thanks to everyone with their kind words about my new Speedy LE.

I cannot exeggerate enough how much I love this watch.:001_tt1:

The stunning looks would normally be enough but to know the history and NASA proven capabilities, plus the LE status, plus the incredible packaging, plus the attention to detail with the ceramic/sapphire case back, etc. is fast making this my fabourite watch in my collection. Which easily makes it the most prudent horological bargain I have ever made as well.

Ed White said that it was the saddest moment of his life when he had to re enter the command module during the Gemini IV mission. I can almost feel his anguish when I have to take off this watch when I shower or do manual labour jobs.
