I have in my collection a very interesting Verge watch that I have had for quite a number of years now. The maker is "Benjamin Kid of Grayrigg". The really interesting feacher of this watch is the serial No, 1. It would appear to me that this was the first watch this particular maker ever made, and if so would make it an extremely rare watch. Any comments would be very much appreciated as I know little or nothing about the serial numbers on old watches. Also the balance cock is interesting, as "Grayrigg" is near York and the design is close to the design of the large window over the main door of the York Cathedral, he may have used this as inspiration when designing the balance cock.
