most watches issued or purchased in that era were Benrus.

h Benrus...They, for a while, imported Seiko movements before you could import Seiko watches! In the 40's they made the first calendar watch that you manually puched the crown to advance the date! It was the highest selling complication at the time...

Benrus in the 50's was #3, behind Hamilton and Bulova in watch sales.
