Simultaneous launch marks the Group's first event in the region and demonstrates its ultimate confidence in the Greater China market

In its first ever combined flagship store opening in Greater China, The Swatch Group, the global leader in the watch industry, marked a unique milestone with the simultaneous unveiling of seven flagship stores at the magnificent Venetian Macao Resort on 1 November 2007. The seven boutiques showcase some of The Swatch Group's most prestigious and renowned brands, each of which is a leader in its respective category, including Blancpain, Glashütte Original, Jaquet Droz, OMEGA, Rado, Swatch and Tissot.

This event marked multiple firsts for The Swatch Group including serving as the Group's first ever combined event in Greater China and the first Group Tenant event held at The Venetian Macao's landmark - St. Mark's Square. With characteristic fanfare and luxury, the celebrations perfectly illustrated The Swatch Group's confidence in the burgeoning Macao market and the importance of Greater China to the world's leading watch manufacturer. Befitting The Swatch Group's renown, each of the boutiques launched is located in a prime location of The Venetian Macao shopping arcade and offers a bespoke design and a unique ambience that perfectly reflects the spirit of the brands involved.

This milestone was fêted in the emotional and stylish fashion that is the hallmark of The Swatch Group events worldwide, and incorporated a unique homage to Macao 's role as a historic meeting point for east and west. In a tribute to Chinese culture, the ceremonies were opened with an Eye-Dotting Ceremony for the traditional Lion Dance conducted by the presidents of each of the participating Swatch Group brands and Mr Kevin Rollenhagen, Member of the Extended Management Committee of The Swatch Group Responsible for Greater China.

Commenting on the launch Mr Rollenhagen remarked, “On behalf of all of The Swatch Group brands involved in the launch, I would like to thank the people of Macao for their warm welcome. With Macao 's growing international appeal, we envision that our new flagship stores will further expand The Swatch Group's profile for the people of Macao and for millions of tourists from across Greater China, Asia and around the world. We look forward to providing the comprehensive collections and world-class services our flagship stores are renowned for.”

Following the Eye-Dotting Ceremony an auspicious Lion Dance performance was held in St. Mark's Square, culminating in a unique procession to each of the new flagship stores to bring good luck and fortune for the future of The Swatch Group in Macao and across Greater China.

Later, a gala dinner was held for 200 exclusive guests at the Grand Ballroom of The Venetian Macao. A Watch Show was also held that featured collections from each of the seven brands. In the show, a coterie of models presented the wide variety of products, styles and attitudes of The Swatch Group brands, culminating in a fantastic finish with each model paired with their respective Brand Presidents on stage for a Venice-style catwalk finale.

The celebrations were brought to a close with an exciting fusion performance especially created for the launch. Representing Macao 's historic role as a bridge between east and west and The Swatch Group's truly international appeal, the performance was a vibrant blend of European and Chinese culture with a live Italian opera performance featuring ornate Venetian and Chinese theatrical masks.

With the launch of flagship stores for seven of its most prestigious brands in one of the world's premier gaming destinations, The Swatch Group is poised to further broaden its appeal in Greater China and start a winning streak in Macao.
