There hasn't been a lot of chatter over here, as far as I could tell, about National Geographic's, James Cameron's and Rolex's involvement in the descent to the bottom of the Mariana Trench this week.

Jake's blog did a good job of covering it all, including Cameron's announcement that the specially built Rolex Deep Sea Challenge performed perfectly throughout the mission.

Great story. The Deep Sea Challenge is a fine example of what powerhouse Rolex can do when they want to. In my mind, Rolex is still king of the dive watch, and this proves it. Check out the video on the making of the watch.

Anyone think it will be produced for retail sales?

The Deep Sea Challenge is according to Rolex an experimental watch that is not intended for production.
