Hello Gang...

Our very own Fred Friedberg just published an AMAZING article
in the NAWCC (March/April) addition of "Watch and Clock"
Bulletin.

Fred tells the amazing story of 2 Consuls...
Both Stories were the result of engravings found
on the casebacks...

If you don't get the magazine, I am told you can see it on line
You all should be NAWCC members, a fine organization!

The Consul has been called the "Greatest Wrist Watch ever made in America"
and anyone who owns one can attest to their incredible beauty!

The "Convict" watch is a one off pinstripe dial with subs at 9

and the "Undertaker's" has a custom dial with the owner's name instead
of numbers...

I don't want to spoil the article, So I say... JUST READ IT!!
An incredible piece of research and a 2 fascinating stories!

If you don't have one of these rarities, I understand Fred may have
one or two extra in his arsenal for sale, seriously hard to come by, gang!

also, Rick assisted Fred in the article, so you know it is really good stuff!

Its like seeing old family photos :crying:
It sure is! :thumbup1:

I have returned to post this one photo and to tell everyone to be sure to read Fred's TERRIFIC article! The Consul is my very favorite watch for good reason! I was happy to be able to read this article last summer, to add a few comments that Fred kindly incorporated, and to be a sounding board as Fred did his research. I was also thrilled that Fred asked me to take the photos and allowed me to incorporate a few of my watches into the article.

The good news is that this article confirms that there are many more great American watches to be discovered, researched, and shared! You also should all send Fred the information on the Fantastic Finds that YOU discover so he can write about them in upcoming NAWCC Bulletin articles.

Regards,
Rick

Rick!

Thanks so much for stopping by and adding to this terrific thread.

Fred did an amazing job on it, and your research and watches put it over the top!

The Consul is simply the coolest Illinois IMO and the history of these 2 beauties
is the stuff of watch dreams...

Thanks for the great article!:thumbup1:

Thanks Guy and to everyone above for their kind comments.

I especially appreciate the great help I received from Rick.

If you really want to judge the pictures taken by Rick look at the article on the NAWCC website. They are awesome !
