Historically Seiko had 2 factories in Japan that produces watches, one in Suwa called Suwa Seikosha Co and the other in Kameido called Daini Seikosha Co. Both these factories competed with each other to produce a better watch and they also serve as backup to production lines should one fail. Suwa produced Seikos have garnered a lot of praise from Seiko collectors over the years.
Today the Suwa company is known Seiko Epson Corporation (home of Grand Seiko,Spring Drives and other high end Seiko watches) and Daini company is known Seiko Instruments Co.
