Kind of like it Scott...:thumbup::thumbup:

Brings out the lugs GREAT...:thumbup1:

Wonder how this beauty would look on a Omega kevlar strap, would make a awesome combo IMO
That is a fantastic look! It brings a sophistication to the watch that the SS lacks. Also I love the maxi dial with the black. They really should offer that on the 16610.
Interesting Scott, its wonderful how something as simple as a strap change can make you see a watch in a whole different way.
That's your LV with the black insert no? It almost gives the watch a James Bond kind of feel, maybe you should try a NATO G10 strap on it.
By the way, i am a Sub purist and i'm not the least bit offended!
:lol: :thumbup:
I don't know about the brown / black combination man...

Don't you dare bring that other brand near the Sub!!! :scared: :scared: :scared:

You know they don't play nice! In fact, I have to keep the Rolexes and other brand in seperate winders or else they fight constantly!!!! :wink: :biggrin:
Thanks guys! :biggrin:

Shimside,
I agree! I really wish Rolex would offer a Rolex strap for the Sub. On the other hand though, they'd sell it for $800 and the deployment for another $500, so this is just fine too... :wink: :eek:hmy:

Paulypaul,
You got it, it's the LV with the black insert... Never owned a Nato, I'll have to go look at one.. Hummm.... :biggrin:

Idrive,
Well, the pictures don't do the watch combo justice. I also wondered about the brown strap on a black dial, but on the wrist it's like 'wow'! It's hard to explain, but it looks better than a black strap on black. The brown gives some contrasting to the black and pulls the blacks out of the aligator grain. Also, gives it a dressier, yet still sporty look. I've really warmed up to it since putting it on... :thumbup1:

Now, the O-word is not THAT bad is it ?? :lol:

Oh, and btw I like the leather strap. We don't see enough people with a leather strap on their Rolex.

Well. OK - no it's not..

But they still don't play nice together..

It's like watching the McCoys & Hatfields go at it... :eek:hmy:
I agree the sub (and also DJs) look good on straps, however what turns me off is the "unfinished" part of the case between the lugs (where the SN is embossed) which detracts from making it a clean looking installation.

I have a feeling this is Rolex way of telling us, "don't mess with the watch" with aftermarket stuff.

LOLLOL...:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:
looks great Scott. Can I humbly suggest that a strap with a curved end like the Hirsch leonardo could make it look even better as there is no unsightly gap between the strap and the bezel. Just a suggestion.
Scott,

I think it looks great. I perceive the look as almost vintage, but that is probably because many of the older 50s and 60s Subs I see in pics have lost their bracelets over the years. Its fun to swap straps.

I've actually seen folks incorporate bracelet end links into the strap ends to eliminate the gap and remove that unfinished look.
Hummm.. Thanks knoffie, I'll take a look for one. I've never really cared for them, but now that Jas mentioned the unfinished part it's got me thinking.. Actually, I'm the kind that likes a gap between the case & leather to show off the lugs somewhat, but you're right - the brushed part is a turnoff...

I may try polishing the insides of the lugs & see how that goes.. I can always re-brush them if it's a no-go. I won't even try polishing the top part where the SN is as I'll never get that perfect with the SN & Mod # engraved there.....

John, you mean you've seen people make those? Boy, I bet that's a task... You know though, JMO but I really don't care for the metal endlinks on the leather strap. Just something about combining a link end with the strap I don't care for. I'd much rather see the gap there than a metal end link. If you don't want a gap, make a leather that curves & fills the gap... Again, JMO on it.
Its fun to swap straps.
Yea, I'm really enjoying it.. Though the wife is getting suspicous. She asks every time I swap a strap "Is that ANOTHER new watch?!?!" I say yes & it cost me $30! :biggrin:

BTW - I be blamin' GJ for all the strap swapping. He's the one that started it all.... :001_tt2: :thumbup:

O-brand? Omega? And is the competition between the two that fierce? I knew Omega was trying to capture reconizability (is that a word? ;) ) as they predict they have 70% brand recognition in the market and want to increase it quite a bit.
