I have a Z Sub LV. It was +2.5 seconds every day, and now 10 monts later, it is +/-7 seconds a day. Rolex said they would adjust it no charge as it is under warranty. This is more than likely an anomoly, as I hear Subs are very accurate, and all the dated ones are COSC.

... Does anyone know the accuracy of a new Submariner? ...
Tracked the accuracy of my F-Series Rolex Sub for about 30 days a couple of years ago, and it was running around -1.0 second/day. Same movement, but prior to the current Submariners being COSC certified. More recently (but less formally tracked), I've found it gains about 1.0 second/day.

Remember also that COSC certifications, like cheese, only speak to validity for a certain period of time. Some say that all it means is that the mechanism managed to pass the test when it passed the test.

You'll also find that performance can vary based on a number of external factors. My Sub ran differently on its OEM bracelet, versus NATO strap (where the caseback was separated from the heat of my wrist by that slight amount and not influenced heat transfer from the SS bracelet).

Et cetera, et cetera, et cetera.

My Z-series non-date COSC Sub, now 5 months old routinely runs up to 1 second fast per day, regardless of it being on my wrist or in the drawer! Easily the most accurate Rolex i own. My others, (Air-King, GMTII, Sea-Dweller) all gain a little more. The GMT which is a 1991 runs right to the limit of COSC tolerance when off the wrist for extended periods.

Rolex watches are mostly all rated to run wthin COSC, depending on age. But there is no single rating for "every" submariner--yours might be + 1 second and mine might be + 4 seconds, but within -4 to + 6 seconds per day range. The Submariner shares the same movement with several other Rolexes and has been many times commented on as being robust, reliable, and accurate. If you have one running outside the specs, assuming it is reasonable new (within 10 years or so) you can send it to your dealer or Rolex for adjustment. If you are thinking of buying, Rolex as an automatic watch company manufactures some good movements and most people report good results.

I set my GMT on 2/29 at 2 pm.

I havent touched the time for 6 days.

It is not + 1 second ahead for 6 days.

Hard to believe.

It came back from Rolex after being sent in for regulation.

Hope it deviates one second a week for the rest of its (my) life.

Amazing a man made machine can be so right on the money.
