I am thinking of getting an Invicta 9937OB priced at £239 here in the UK. However, after doing a little research, Invicta's reputation is putting me off and after looking around for another Rolex Submariner look-a-like I stumbled on the Steinhart Ocean 1 priced at £290.00.

The question is: Would I be better off saving a bit more money and going for the Ocean 1 or stick to my original plan and get the 9937OB? I noticed that the Ocean 1 is labelled "Swiss made" as opposed to "Swiss movement" on the Invicta, that and the fact that the Ocean1 has a sapphire window as opposed to the "flame fusion" offering on the Invicta suggests to me that the quality of the Steinhart is probably a bit better. Is it?

Any answers would be appreciated.

Thank you.

Hey there nematoad!!...well, I don't own either...but one of our frequent contributors(Incontrol) has a Stenhart dive watch, I believe...I think he likes it and he has a rather nice collection of watches...I just think that you could run into quality control issues w/ the Invicta...in the long run, the Stienhart may be well worth the extra initial $ spent....just my 2 cents...

Steinhart.

Should a problem occur, Invicta's Customer Service is 'unpredictable' (to put it tactfully).

Elucidate, please.
The 'are you kidding' was directed at the OP's query. I'd take a Steinhart every day of the week over an Invicta although the 9937 isn't a bad watch. Steinhart has better finish & overall quality and as you pointed out, Invicta's 'customer service' in the event of a problem leaves a bit to be desired. And if you want a bit more exclusivity, you wont see a Steinhart that often and they seem to hold their value better than an Invicta.

That's cool! I just wasn't sure who you were addressing. (Old self-persecutorial issues)

Thanks

OK, thank you for all the replies.

My mind is made up.

The piggy bank will survive for a bit longer and I'll get a Steinhart when I have saved a bit more.

It was the poor reputation of the Invicta customer support that worried me, that and the fact that some people seem to have been palmed off with defective watches and then had to suffer from protracted delays. So, the 9937 seems to be OK for an Invicta but being short on funds I did not want to gamble on getting a "wrong 'un".

Oh, and the fact that if I order it direct from Germany I'll save a bit on the VAT. A win-win outcome there I reckon.

I'd look at the Invicta, seriously.Less $$$,and the customer service is not bad. What makes it seem poor is all the parrots on these forums.

I have 2 Invictas a 9937 and a 4463.Both great.My daughter has a ladies pro diver,I would never buy her anything I didn't feel good about.Since I'm the one fixing it.

Lemmings are everywhere.............
