IWC BIG PILOT'S WATCH

The Big Pilot's Watch, with its large 46.2 mm diameter case, is part of IWC's Pilot Watch Classic line.

Since 2002, the Big Pilot's Watch has been IWC's flagship. Its IWC-manufactured 51110 movement contains all the features that have proved their worth in the long history of IWC mechanical watches. Within no time at all, the automatic movement - currently the largest of its kind in the world - generates a power reserve of 8.5 days, but only runs for seven before an ingenious little mechanism automatically stops it. This is because the torque that drives the movement decreases as the mainspring winds down, leading to a loss of amplitude in the balance and the unacceptable possibility of inaccuracy.

Features:

- Mechanical movement
- Automatic Pellaton winding system
- Seven days' continuous running
- Power reserve display
- Beryllium alloy balance with high-precision adjustment cam on the balance bars
- Brequet spring
- Date display
- Central seconds hand with stop function
- Screw-in crown
- Soft iron inner case for protection against magnetic fields
- Convex sapphire glass, anti-reflective on both sides and secured against displacement by drop in air pressure
- Water-resistant 60 m

Movement:

- Calibre: IWC 51110
- Vibrations: 21 600/h / 3 Hz
- Jewels: 44
- Power-reserve: 7 days (168 hours)
- Winding: automatic

Technical Specs:

- Inner case: soft iron for protection against magnetic fields
- Glass: sapphire, convex, anti-reflective, resistant against pressure drop
- Crown: screwed
- Water-resistant: 6 bar (60 m)
- Case diameter: 46.2 mm
- Case height: 15.8 mm
- Weight:
Big Pilot's Watch in 18 ct. white gold with crocodile leather strap: 185 g

This is one I'd really like to own.....

The 46mm is perfect for me & this watch jut makes a great statement. Coupled to that is the aviation tie & it's a winner! :thumbup1:

It's a relatively high price for a stainless steel, which is the main reason I don't have one. However, for what you're getting it's not out of line IMO...

A definite winner in my eyes....   :001_tt1:

Great taste Scott. I have had this one is Platinum on my wrist and it is stunning. Right now I have my eyes on a couple of other IWC options, but this should, in fact, be a contender to round out my collection.

Wow Bill...

So what IWC's have you NOT had on your wrist?!?! :thumbup1: :thumbup1: :thumbup1:
(and yes, you are reading some watch envy in that post! :thumbup1:)

I see the platinum isn't in the current catalog. I'd assume it was around $30K or so?
