...the latest Beta test winder from Orbita and I must say that up to this point I'm very pleased by it's perfomance...:001_tongue:

Then again, I wouldn't expect anything less from this company...

I Got Mine In Also

I have had mine for a week now and am very happy with the unit. My older Sparta I had was like a freight train compared to this one. The small compact size makes it perfect for the nightstand. I hate to have all my collection housed in the closet behind a locked door, so this winder is nice to have, so I can have one watch to enjoy and look at the lume if I wake in the middle of the night. Time will tell if it gets louder, but I am hoping it does not.

I agree with you,

it's size makes it perfect for the night stand.

I think I have a minor problem with it though as it seems it keeps a DJ, (which I've had on for 3 weeks) fully winded which makes me wonder if it makes to many turns, (more then 650) a day.

Maybe Kevin sees this and can chime in?
Idle Swede,

The Sparta Mini turns approximately 800 - 900 TPD. Although this is a little more than the recommended 650 TPD, it will not harm your watch. We can not really say Turns Per Day though since the Mini "swings". Due to the swinging action instead of rotation, the Mini winding is self limited. Meaning basically when fully wound, the rotor swings in unison with the watch, no longer winding the mainspring. Think of it was walking in the street rather than running the NY marathon. Your DJ will do either.

Thanks for the reply Kevin,

I'm a little confused though, why would the rotor swing in unison when fully wound and not keep on winding and engage the "overwind clutch"?
Idle Swede,

We're approaching the cusp of my technical knowledge here. I had to go straight to Mr. Agnoff on this one. The amount of frictional torque in the slip clutch mechanism is greater than the torque generated by the rotors movement. So, when fully wound the rotor won't cause further winding. I hope this helps.

The movement inside this winder is the same as used in our Tesla watchwinders. The Tesla's are used as private label winders for Ball watch and a couple other brands as well. You are in safe hands!
