When I was a student at the University of Kentucky, I took basic etymology as an elective in arts for my pre pharmacy curriculum. A Dr. Plummer, from the school of journalism tought the course. He walked in the first day of classes and announced to the class," I am a sexagenerian horologist", to which the class gasped in unison and became very figity. He laughed and told us that it meant that he was a 60-something timepiece collector. See it's nothing scandalous, thats why etymology is important; it helps us understand the meaning of words. That was roughly 40 years ago---I just realized that I too, am a sexagenerian horologist! How time flies!
