I must say I like having the sapphire crystal on the MM300. I had no problem with the Hardlex on previous MM300s I've owned but I do like what the blue single-sided AR coating does when it combines with that greenish tinge of the dial.

Well, the rod is Shimano, but the reel is a custom geared A-G Ambassador with the ratios changed for long distance surf casting.

Well, I think that sounds quite acceptable. Mine's a Sage spin rod. Not common over hear but for those who like to fish on the go it's a brilliant rod that breaks right down into your luggage.
