No jeweler, watchmaker. Most jewelers are clueless.

Then not much of an issue if I switch it to a black leather band. Challenge is that the gold bracelet is soldered onto the watch body and would need to use a jeweler.

Most jewelers are better watchmakers than watchmakers are jewelers. This would need some gold soldered on to create lugs, and holes drilled for springbars. Very, very few watchmakers will do that.
