Hi Folks, settling on getting a Seamaster again (first one in 2000, gifted to Son some years ago and still in great shape) and I want the classic blue wave 41mm waveface 2220.80.00. I did notice that there is also another smooth blue faced 41mm 212.30.41.20.03.001. The later one is slightly more expensive, but other than this I don't see any difference other than the face. I prefer the original with white date and wave so I'm going down this route, but have I missed anything?

Hi,

Great to hear that you're getting a Seamaster. Honestly, you can't go wrong with either IMHO. The older version with the wavy dial will have some variant of the caliber 2500 movement, likely a "C". The newer model will have the "D", which is considered to be more reliable. It also has a ceramic bezel insert instead of the traditional aluminum, along with a newer version of the Bond bracelet (screws instead of pins and different clasp). Other than that, the differences are cosmetic.

I think that's it. Looking forward to seeing your new purchase.:thumbup1:

Get whichever one you think looks better. I have the 2220.80 and love it. In fact, I am wearing it right now. I also like the fact that it is a Bond movie watch - Daniel Craig wore it in Casino Royale.
