I have been enjoying a new Accutron VX200 Diver for the past several days and thought I would do a review.

Size and heft: This is a 43mm dial with a large, easy-to-grasp crown with the Accutron tuning fork logo etched on it. It has a substantial feel and heft but not so heavy that it is an effort to wear.

Dial: The dial is done in a matte black finish. It is easy to read. The red and black unidirectional bezel is done in the same matte finish. I don't know what the lume material is, but it glows like a flashlight. I suspect Super-luminova but I don't know that for a fact. Even the logo at the 12 o'clock position glows brightly. The second hand is black with a sporty red tip with the tuning fork logo at the opposite end. The date is at the 3 o'clock position absent a cyclops. SWISS MADE is at the 6 o'clock position. Sapphire crystals front and back.

Movement: An ETA 2824-2 powers the watch. It is smoooooth. This is my first ETA time piece. I haven't checked the accuracy since it has only been a few days but so far, it seems to be keeping good time. It is 200 meters water resistant.

Bracelet: The links on this watch each have 13 sections. I sized it myself following the simple three-part directions that came with the watch. It utilizes friction pins and sleeves. I have extra long pin removers designed for Omega bracelets and sizing it was a breeze. The bracelet is highly polished sstl, hefty, and quiet to wear. When I run my finger on the underside of the bracelet, the links cascade like a waterfall. It is a beautifully made bracelet. While I won't go diving with this it has a divers extension just in case my wife buys me a wet suit.

Attention to detail: The watch lists for $995 and seems to sell on the internet for half that price. I paid $249. But it has the fit and finish of a thousand dollar watch. It comes in a black lacquered watch box that is the nicest I have, not that I am planning to wear the box. Overall, this was quite an unexpected find and if the chronograph version with a Valjoux 7750 ever becomes available for a similar cost savings, I will jump at the chance to own it. Citizen has just purchased Bulova, the parent company of Accutron and they are getting a quality operation IMHO.

Charlie,

Accutron is still a division of Bulova which has recently been sold to Citizen.
Originally, the Accutrons used a tuning fork to maintain accuracy. Those vintage watches are sought after by collectors, running a thousand bucks or more. Today, most of the line uses quartz movements while several upper end models use Swiss ETA or Valjoux movements.

Hey, mgiraz, I didn't realize you bleed Dodger blue. I used to be a lifelong Dodger fan (my first Little League team was dem bums) until Rupert Murdoch bought the team.

The current owner, Frank McCourt, used to play pond hockey with one of my brothers-in-law in the Boston area many years ago. Now, I think McCourt owns the pond.:D
