I was talking to a very good friend of mine yesterday over a few drinks. The conversation got onto watches and he was telling me about his Rolex that he wears everyday.

It's a gold day/date. He told me it wasn't automatic. That it had to be wound everyday. I never heard of a Rolex that wasn't automatic. Not quartz either.

Is there such an animal?? I don't know alot about watches, but never saw one, if there is such a watch. He swears he has to wind it everyday.

Is it a Cellini? Its either that or his rotor is stuck or something. I'd need more info or a pic to solve this one.

He might be winding the watch not realizing it is an auto.

There are only two Day-Dates by Rolex.

1. Day-Date Oyster Perpetual (Automatic)
2. Day-Date Oyster Quartz

Non of them has to be wound up.

Nope. Rolex discontinued the OysterQuartz (back in the 90s?).
