I have a question for everybody, I want to change out the clasp on my Plat. Yachtie to a Daytona clasp or GMT IIc clasp (after seeing Scott's pictures). I called a watchmaker who does high end watches, Rolex, Omega, etc., they said that they can order either clasp, as I own both Daytona and GMT IIc (I know they do a serial # check). OK this is where it gets tricky:confused1:, they told me that Rolex makes them return the original clasp:sneaky2:. Well that does not help me since I only want to put this new one on my Yachtmaster. Has anybody heard of such a policy? I know Rolex is particular about keeping their watches original, and all they would know is that I want another clasp for a watch I own (Daytona or GMT IIc). My feelings are that I purchased the clasp that came on the watch and I would be purchasing the new clasp, I bought both, how can they say they must return the original to be able to get a new one. Please nobody say they are Rolex and they can do whatever they want. Thanks for any help

Hey John..

Welcome to Rolex USA.... :cursing: (OK, I didn't say "they are Rolex"..... :glare: )

Unfortunately, that is the policy of Rolex in the US - period. You have to return the old one before they'll ship the new one. BTW, that's the same policy for many of the parts.. I believe you can order a whole bracelet, but not just the clasp (and who wants to spend $1700 for the clasp?)... Do you know anyone in Europe? If so, the European centers seem to allow for shipping of parts, but they won't ship outside the local countries there. So you'd have to have someone in Europe get it for you, then ship it to you. Though, with the current issues with the dollar, you're gonna pay more for it....

Probably the reason you don't see any on ebay & such either....

Sorry to say, you probably won't get it thru RUSA.....

I believe so. Europe isn't as strict when it comes to ordering parts. I believe you can order blacelet clasps, dials, etc. from some of the European RSC's

I guess if I want to change a clasp on my Rolex, I have to move to Europe. Of course since the tools are metric in Europe and standard in US I guess I'll have to move back to US to actually install my new clasp.:lol::lol:

if you want the clasp so badly, put the YM clasp on your GMT or Daytona and send the watch to Rolex. Since they always bring the watch back to orig. ,they will take the YM clasp and replace it with a GMT/Daytona clasp.

Frank

PS: forgot to say, this will cost you some $$
