"We received an unfortunate update about our dials overnight. When test fitting the movement it was discovered that the positioning of the dial feet was incorrect. The original solution was to just reposition the feet on the dials making for a quick fix. However we were just informed that the dial factory was unsuccessful when attempting to reposition the feet. This means that all the dials need to be remade. Fortunately this process is much faster the second time around, but it will still take roughly 6-8 weeks to finalize.

We have learned a great deal over the past 2 years. Perhaps our biggest learning is with timing: with any new build, expect the unexpected. We’ve put a lot into our first release – 8 custom molds, 3 custom bands, and a brand new movement – a complex undertaking to say the least. However, we don’t want to make any excuses as it doesn't change the fact that we've missed our timing. We do feel that this is the last bump in the road since everything else is checked off. Having said that, we’re adding a month to the June estimate that our manufacturing partners just provided putting our new delivery timing in July.

We apologize and share in any frustrations you may have. You're seeing this update before we publish it on our website and Facebook pages. We will of course continue to keep you updated with pictures and production news. Once again, thank you for your continued support!"

frustrating for everyone involved, but in the end its important the watches are finished as spec'd and gone through proper QC so if it takes a little more time to adjust or fit the dial properly than so be it, better than rushing something imo....In the end when the watch is done nobody will care and we will all be happy

btw is the plan still a white or black date dial?

April Updates

Thanks for posting, Brian...we sent that out to everyone that pre-ordered last night prior to publishing it here. We just posted the complete update on our website (copied below).

First and foremost we'd like to thank all of our pre-orders for their continued support as we navigate through our first release. For those that have been following our progress, but haven't received the most recent updates, here is where we currently stand:

9015 Movement Update (black with white)
We finally did hear back from Miyota regarding the movements. We wanted to hold off on letting everyone know until we finalized a backup plan. Miyota informed us that due to the recent catastrophic events the movements would be delayed into the summer. This would put our delivery timing even further out after you add on final assembly and QA checks.

9015 Movement Backup (white with black)
Since the impact and length of delay is longer than we are willing to wait (we want our watches to their owners!) we have been working with some great partners in the industry to acquire 300 Miyota 9015 movements that have white date wheels with black numbers. Though we would prefer to use the black date wheel as our original design called for, we feel that this slight aesthetic difference doesn’t warrant an additional lengthy dely.

Production Updates
The white Miyota 9015 movements are currently making their way to the assembler where the master watchmaker is anxiously awaiting! The highly anticipated LUM-TEC® blue lume has been mixed and is ready to be applied by hand to the fully lumed bezel. We also got word that the rubber straps with stainless steel buckles are complete and the PVD’d buckles are right behind them!

I share MNGambler's concern

While I feel Josh and Troy's pain...since I pre-ordered...I'm in this for the long-haul and am looking forward to getting a fully QA'ed RedSea watch.

But what MNGambler was trying to get at, I believe, is that, since we are pushing back the delivery of the watches because of the positioning of the dial feet, can we not also expect the original Black on White Dial Date? Is it not possible to work with Miyota to deliver the originally spec'ed Dial - with Black on White Dial Date - since the dials are going to have to be remade?

It seems logical and, I for one, would gladly tack an extra month onto the current extended delivery date for us watch customers to get the originally spec'ed watch.

If other pre-order members feel the same way pipe up!

I was just asking out of curiosity, personally the date wheel color does not matter to me, the originally spec'd black looks good, but my 2 fav. divers in the world are dark dial with white date so I can't really say anything bad about the white either...just my .02

Good morning everyone, at least in or near the CST zone

Looks like we have great conversation going on here so I thought I’d chime in. But before I get into the black with white or white with black date wheel discussion I just wanted to say how much we (Josh and I) truly love the watch community. In this community you have people who have a sharp/keen eye for information and can put the pieces together… ie “since we are pushing back the delivery of the watches because of the positioning of the dial feet, can we not also expect the original Black on White Dial Date?” - Fantastic question!

It is not only attention to detail, but appreciation of detail which is something all watch lovers have in common. Whether it’s on information or more importantly the detail that was put into the designs of our favorite watches. Okay, enough of my banter…

Regarding the delay due the dials, we had the same thought go through our head… “Can we get a hold of the original black w/ white date wheels?” We have had some great initial conversations with our manufacturing partners about making this happen and it looks to be positive. But as we have not been given the official word stating it’s a sure thing we are holding off on making an official communication stating it will happen.

We are hoping to know more about this opportunity in the next few weeks and will definitely keep everyone posted on our progress!

Have a great weekend!

Thanks,
Troy & Josh

That's all we can ask!

Thanks Troy, for taking the time to get with us on this issue. I'm glad that great minds think alike and that you are pursuing this.

Given the circumstances it's all we can ask for with regard to the date/color issue. And we'll remain patient, yet vigilant, in our desire to hold the finished product in-hand!

Everything happens for a reason! Maybe the reason the dials didn't fit as planned is we are supposed to have black date wheels? Either way they will be here when they get here!

Anticipation - making me wait!
