Hello from a new member. My name is Steve Ball and I live in Tustin. I have a friend who needs to sell an Omega Seamaster DeVille watch he got from his father. I have agreed to try and do some research on the watch to determine value - either collectible or gold-only value.

Since I'm posting this from a library computer, I can't use right-click to copy the pictures from the friend's Craigslist posting, so here's the link:

Omega Watch

Some questions:
1) Is $700 a fair price?
2) Is the band an original?

Please reply to my email, [email protected]

TIA,

Steve Ball

The band is not factory original to the watch.
It's an Evinger, missing a little insert on the center, these were often green glass or gold-metal.
These are USA made expansion-mesh bands, 14kt gold electroplate, long out of production.

Now for the really bad news per question #1: we don't know! We'd need bigger and clearer pics, especially of the movement. Knowing its true condition and what's inside is important.

In that condition with those photos he'd be lucky to get $300. Mint Seamaster DeVilles fetch $550 to $600 at best unless it's solid gold (look between the lugs).
