I've been looking for some info on quartz chronographs. I have been told that running the chronograph all the time can drain the battery much quicker but I've also been told that the worst thing for a watch is to not run it. Should the chronograph be run on a regular basis and how often would be good for the movement?

Yes, running the chrono will run down the battery faster - there are a lot more parts moving. The other side is saying you need to run it periodically to ensure the lubrication is "circulated" - which could be annually with modern lubricants. (All this is assuming we're talking about a high quality timepiece that has actually been lubricated)

Just out of idle curiosity: why would anyone want to run their chronograph function all the time?
