Not for me, :)
but as has been said before, motor bikes and cars are often modified from new and I think often for the better. Sometimes this even changes the brand. Somehow I think this wont work for rolex and I like that:wink:
Cool design though:D

I would never mod my Sub to that. BUT, that said if Rolex came out with one that was factory, I'd be interested.... Not saying I'd buy, but I like the PVD look if it's done right & on the right watch. And I gotta imagine Rolex would do it right... :thumbup1:

Not for me. Automatic frankenwatch in my opinion.

I understand people's need to be different and modify their things to their choosing, but this is something probably only the buyer will love. I'm sure you have to pay extra for this firm to make these modifications, but the next guy almost certainly will not appreciate it. The beauty of a Rolex is that Rolex made it, more or less, right the first time. Were there people clamoring for a PVD coating, maybe Rolex would make it for them.

These guys are obviously trading on the Rolex name, but not adding extra to it IMHO. Just something different.

Buy an Invicta or a Chase Durer; something that was built for PVD. Better yet, get a Colamariner or a Harley-Davidson sub. That way they will only cost you a fraction of the price of the 6000usd novelty watch.

Anyone remember the Volkswagen Beetle with the Rolls Royce grille that was all the rage in the mid 70s? This is worse.:confused1:

This is my view.

Obviously, this procedure is not for everyone.

It is a service provided for those who for one reason or another want that look.

Certainly, it sets that Rolex from the crowd.

Many of those who have responded in the negative have responded with regard to he their personal watches.

I understand that probably most Rolex owners wouldn't want to alter their own Rolex, because they have invested in their watches and expect to do nothing to diminish the value of the watch on the collector market.

Not everyone who buys a Rolex, worships Rolex.

They want a prestige watch and in the opinion of some a watch's prestige is enhanced when it is customized.

For that kind of buyer, would an Invicta or a Chase-Durer really do the trick?

I doubt it.

While I understand the response of those here, I think the watch looks excellent and the fact that it's a Rolex just adds to the mystique.

I doubt if I would do that to my Rolex, if I had one, but maybe if I had two, I might consider it.

I think the overall look is pretty neat. If Rolex would release a watch like this I would bet it would be a runaway success.
Also, I guess with PVD it could always be polished back to stock. The part that worries me is those permanently soldered in strap bars, I wonder why would they not use the standard spring bars, they are plenty tough. I'm all for customizing watches ONLY as long as it can easily be put back to stock.

it must invalidate your warranty no? :confused1:

Absolutely... Assuming it's still under warranty. But here's another thought. It now can not be serviced by Rolex. They'll require it to be put back to factory fresh. Since the dial & case have been modified, would they require you to replace the case & crystal? When the O-brand wanted to replace a case on my PO they wanted $2500. I told them to pick a bridge & jump. Can you imagine what a Rolex case must cost??? :scared: Though, on the plus side they're so many Rolex 'qualified' watchmakers around, finding someone to work on the movement probably isn't too bad...

Like I said, I kind of like the look though I'd never do it to mine..

I love it!

The GMT Master looks like a proper tool watch once again.

The green GMT hand really pops too!

How much does this add to the already considerable price of a new GMT?
