Hello everyone,

I would like to present you with a watch (Panerai 004) that was in an extremely bad shape due to the everyday wear its owner had put it through over the years. Personally I dont know a true Panerai fan who hasn't been secretly dreaming to put their hands on 201, 004, 009, 205, 218, and 004 in a fairly good shape. Well this could be extremely dificult the least to say and this particular 004 is kind of supporting my words. Therefore, i engaged into getting this baby a well deserved spa treatment.

The watch was first completely disassembled; the old coating stripped off; all dents and inconsistencies were removed (it does sound easy but it is a procedure that takes over 2 days); all parts were then DLC coated with the Panerai signature pencil lead color. The caseback was also refinished by reapplying the original satin finish on it. The movement undertook a complete overhauling… it was completely disassembled, cleaned, oiled, assembled, and then regulated.

Enough of talking…. I have broken down and documented the transformation from start to finish going through the various stages the watch went through. Right now the watch looks not mint… brand new.

Enjoy….

Like it was just taken outside the box for a first time…

And let the tear-down begin.... :)

Wow! It's not often we see the tear down / rebuild phases of a watch 'spa'. Thanks for posting this look inside the process. Did Panerai take the photos for you? If so, that was a nice touch to what would have been a considerably expensive refurbishment. But it looks like the end result was worth it. Anyway, as we all know, what you pay for a watch, or in this case a watch service, is always worth it to you, even if not to other (saner) people... :thumbup1:
Like you say, looks brand new out of the box.

BTW - the yellow text on a white background is really hard to read - had to drag the mouse over it to highlight it so I could read it.

Thanks for sharing your great 'new' watch.

It is great you are thinking that Panerai had done the service from the pictures but the truth is different. Drag and drop on of the pics in Google and you will see the whole picture ;)

I don't get it. I dropped one of your pics into google images and just got an identical thread at WUS (which didn't shed any more light than this thread). Was there meant to be another result?
