I really like and enjoy my Blue Ray. I have a very small and not very expensive collection but this watch gets a lot of wrist time. It's also one of the more "spendy" watches I have purchased so I'm a little concerned about a couple of things with it and I'm just wondering of they are normal or not.

The first thing I have noticed is that when I pull the crown out to set the time the second hand does not stop, it just keeps going so it's hard to set the exact time.

Second, and I have just noticed this recently, the hour hand is not lining up with the hour marker when the minute hand it at the 12-o-clock position?

Third, when I'm setting the date it seems to want to stop halfway between the date, like it's half way between 21/22. I can eventually get it to sit correctly but it seems like a decent watch shouldn't have this as an issue?

Maybe it's just me expecting too much but like I said (I know it's an inexpensive watch) this IS a nice watch by a good company and that had a lot to do with my decision to purchase it in the first place.

I can only assume that being down the lower end of the market the Orient lacks both the quality control and the Hack feature of more expensive watches.
The hand misalignment should be an easy fix, not sure about the date issue.

So how old is this watch(Orient has a 1 year warranty)? It might well be time to have it serviced. Tell the watch maker your issues about the date and the alignment of the hands, both of which should be an easy fix.

I have only had the watch for a couple of months and please forgive me for not knowing how this works but how do I go about using the warranty? Do I go through Orient (web site) ? Can I just take it to a watch repair shop?

I have only had the watch for a few months now. Also, I have seen the term "Hack Second Hand" before but I'm not sure I understand what it means. Does this have something to do with stopping the second hand?

Yes, hacking is the ability to stop the second hand to synchronize the watch more precisely

So, if you bought it from an authorized Orient dealer, you can have it fixed directly by Orient. Or if you bought it from an Amazon or Jomashop, for instance, they offer their own coverage. I'd definitely have it serviced under warranty.

Don't set the date when the hour hand is between 9pm and 3am (as a guide). Mechanical watches can have problems with setting the date the closer you get to midnight as it is in the process of moving the date wheel. Often this doesn't happen instantly at 12am but the date wheel can move slowly for some time before. Trying to set the date while it is 'engaged' in the process of automatically changing the date may damage the mechanism. There is a more technical explanation of what happens but I'm not a watchmaker and just know to keep away from that 'danger' period when changing the date.

Thanks, I'm allways cautious when setting the time and I always make sure the hands are set past 3 and before 9 before I set the date.
