Well not really. The honest thing was done and the money returned. But whose is it?

That's a good question and probably a court will have to decide if the true owner does not step forward with proof of ownership, which might be a hard thing to do.

I think the money would go to the store as they are the rightful owners of the shoe, but it would be great publicity if they let the customer have it as a gesture of good will.

It will be interesting. Common beleif was that the finder got it after 30 days if no one claimed it. Assuming that is true, then your point is valid, the store owned the property (sneakers), and it was found on their grounds, thus, I beleive it is the store's money, just as if a contractor found money inside a wall of a homeowner.

Hopefully, they will split it down the middle. Compromise!!! It is what America is made of!! :001_smile:
