Hello,

Newb question here. I've done a search but can't find anything specific related to the Omega Seamaster 30. Other than staying away from eBay is there anything I should / can look for?

Thanks

Ollie

Hi Ollie. I don't think you have to totally forsake eBay. You already know to be wary so you've got your eyes open to potential pitfalls. Just post pics of the potential targets and we'll see if they pass muster or not.

I'm not sure if posting direct links is allowed, so apologies....

My favourite ones on eBay at the moment:

Not a 30, but just as good looking - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Vintage-O...Watches_GL&hash=item4ab3c1d3fb#ht_1070wt_1057

Does the bezel on this one look wrong for some reason?

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1960s-GEN...nsWatches_GL&hash=item35b94c2906#ht_578wt_922

Should it have the date magnification panel?

Thanks in advance

Eliminate #2 and #4 because they're definitely refinished dials. That kills the value to a collector. Wait for other opinions on the others or if I find some more time than just a cursory glance.

Thanks. Will do.

I wonder if no1 is a Frankenstein watch. The Omega db says it should be gold which it isn't in the pictures! Is the db ever wrong?

And another one that's popped up today...
This seems to match 90% of the Omega database information but the picture on the database shows numbers at each hour marker but the pictures of the watch don't. A reface?

The latest one:

The others still in the game in order of preference

The database is incomplete. There might be another version with a different case metal. Sometimes there isn't even a listing for a particular reference number.
