old watch, new interest

Hi folks, I'm hoping for a little assistance from you regarding the watch pictured here. As you can see it's a Waltham. It belonged to my grandfather, to whom it was presented on April 10, 1917 (according to the inscription).

The back unscrews from the case. The crown is loose - doesn't move the hands or wind the mainspring. Not sure if the case is sterling silver. Maybe the back is gold plated? The one piece leather strap is broken and unusable.

Question: Do you think this watch has any value and is worth getting fixed/sold?? Thanks for taking a look and providing any feedback! Rob
