Have zero experience buying watches.

Have my sights set on a 300M GMT.

There are no AD's within 200 miles of me so I sent an email to an Omega boutique in Chicago and an AD in Louisville. Both quoted me $4050.00 for the watch. I was thinking that there might be a difference due to the cost of living difference between Chicago and Louisville but apparently not. So I'm assuming $4050.00 is MSRP.

Is there a difference between what you can expect for a discount between a boutique and AD?

If so where would my time be better spent?

thanks

Hi Syb and welcome to Watch Talk Forums!

There will most definitely be a difference in price if you go to an AD as opposed to an Omega boutique. I would think you could expect ~20% discount on that model, although I believe it was announced recently that it was discontinued. Therefore, you may pay a premium and/or have trouble tracking one down.

Don't discount the chance to buy a lovingly used one either. You would likely save quite a bit and still get a great watch.

Thanks for the response.

Looks like I'm gonna have to take a road trip.

I'm a military retiree and got curious to see if they carry Omega's in the Exchange.

I looked online and they do! Most everything BUT the 2535.80.

I wonder if the Exchange gets them direct from the manufacturer?

Well, if worst comes to worst you can always snatch one "grey market" from a reputable online dealer. You'll get a great discount compared to MSRP, but at the cost of having to rely on the dealer warranty versus an official warranty from Omega.

Hey Mate,

Welcome to the forum. A road trip is a great idea as it also allows you to actually inspect the watch and ensure that it is the right one for you. Sometimes a watch doesn't look the same as it does in pictures and also sometimes new watches can be knocked around. The other bonus is that it can be sized for you.

I assume you have checked ADs out of state for your tax savings?

Anyhow mate here is a picture of my old GMT to keep you focused.

Cheers.

This watch is throwing itself at me!

Today I got an offer to house-sit in Manhatten for a week while some friends go to Paris. Obviously I'll have to go to Kenjo's and Tourneau.

The wife is just going to have to understand that it was meant to be.
