I was just on www.ajb007.co.uk looking around and found a thread about whether Omega will return as 007's watch in the next movie.

http://www.ajb007.co.uk/index.php?topic=29511

You will have to find the 2nd to last post to see what I am referring to. A particular member is informing the crew over there--which may or may not be true--that the PO will not return and the typical seamaster will. However, this time it will be with a black bezel and dial.

Have any of you heard this?

I personally kinda don't want Bond to wear the black Seamaster, :scared: but I think wearing it does kinda make sense, as the black one looks more sporty, and kinda matches Bond's wardrobe.

Would Omega just drop the blue version and make only a black seamaster with 2 dials variations ??

I don't know. For me, it is really hard to believe that the PO, which was introduced in Casino Royale, will not come back. I thought they had made essentially two watches for Bond. One that he wears when he is jumping and shooting people and the other when he is dressed up and ready to mingle.

Also, indicating that the seamaster will be in black doesn't make much sense since the seamaster that was used by Bond has been used since Brosnan and really hasn't changed--with the exception of the movement and some minor details. So, it doesn't really make sense to me that it would run the course as explained.

Planet Ocean?

Someone posted this pic a few months ago on another forum, supposedly a pre-production picture of the new film. It looks like a Planet Ocean on bracelet, but I'm not so sure.

Well 007 sporting a black SMP on his wrist would be nice. One thing though - why would Omega wish to change the watch when it had already garnered an association with Bond around the blue SMP? I guess we won't know till nearer the time.

Sorry Mike - hadn't seen your follow-up post. :001_rolleyes:

Like your activity analogy :thumbup1: I think I'd also like to keep the status quo as it is. Both the 300M SMPs are unique watches. Nice to have them retain their separate identities.

Zin, no need to apologize. I didn't mean it in a bad way.

I was just trying to, I guess, say that you are feeling the same way I am.

Take care :D

Wonder what changes Omega has in store for the Co-Axial black SMP? If they can use a display back for the Bond GMT, it would be really nice to have it on the black SMP, wouldn't you agree? Not a deal breaker, I'm sure but the thought of it is tempting.

Have a good day Mike

Zin,

I don't know what to think. I know that the black GMT seamaster is really nice, but like I said before, I believe that Omega has established itself with the bond seamaster in the blue color. It doesn't make sense to me for them to continue to change things. They introduced the PO and the same Bond seamaster in Casino Royale (except of course it was a different movement and some things here and there). Now there are rumours that they will introduce a new seamaster all together? Doesn't make much sense to me. I would keep it how it is.

Now, a black seamaster......looking at that Alpha up there makes me wonder how sexy it would look. As you said, with the gmt dial oh baby!.....

Actually I didn't explain myself clearly. I was referring to the black SMP chronometer that is expected to appear with a Co-Axial movement. I imagine this will be the 2500C as opposed to the 8500.

The Bond GMT has a display back and I was wondering if it might be nice if Omega would use a display back for the forthcoming Co-Axial SMP Chronometer. As I said, this is not a deal breaker but it would be very nice.

That said, I'd still rather spend my moola on another Speedy Pro ;) Like my Precious Godson when he was three, I still enjoy buttons.....

Be well Mike

I'd heard a rumour (aint the Net great!) on either the old place or WUS, that an Omega rep went into an AD and said the 2254 is going to get the same treatment as the 2531 got. So maybe the updated black SMP may feature in Bond 23, but Bond 22 has started filming and as the pre production shot has shown, Bond still has on a PO.

Ah thank you Zin. Sometimes I'm not sure if I dream these things or not.

As to which Omega Bond will be wearing in Bond 23, I'm not too bothered. So long as its an Omega. I wouldn't doubt any of the other big players in the watch world wouldn't love to see their brand on Bond wrist. The whole James Bond franchise must have done wonders for Omegas image.

What I'd love to see on the new SMP

if ever there will be a new black SMP, is a bezel with engraved numbers on it. Now that would make it (in my opinion) much classier.
