OMEGA Seamaster Planet Ocean Co-Axial
Red Gold Collection
Model Ref - 222.63.46.50.01.001

The highly successful and sporty Seamaster Planet Ocean originally introduced in 2005 takes an elegant turn with the arrival of a new, Red Gold Collection. The use of this warm hue of gold in the 2007 Planet Ocean adds refinement to the long list of characteristics of this professional divers’ watch. Conceived as an evolution of the 1957 Seamaster 300 model, this version of the Planet Ocean Co-Axial is the first to be made in red gold.

The 2005 Seamaster Planet Ocean Co-Axial first caught the watch world’s attention with the option of distinctive bold orange details on the dial and the bezel. The following year, its popularity was such that OMEGA introduced a second collection of column-wheel chronographs. Today, the family has grown to include a Red Gold Collection.

The Seamaster family is a core range of OMEGA’s watch making heritage and its sportiest member. Associated with the seas for over 50 years and a favourite of outstanding sportsmen and women such as Michael Phelps and Ellen MacArthur, the Seamaster is a watch fit to match the most demanding maritime challenge. Characteristic details include a robust, waterproof case and a uni-directional bezel. We are reminded of the Planet Ocean’s design origins by the Seamaster’s traditional Seahorse medallion stamped on the screw-in 18-carat red gold case back, the uni-directional bezel, smooth link bracelet and easy to read dial.

The automatic version is available in a 42mm or 45.5mm case while the more complex automatic chronograph model is presented in a 45.5mm case. Both versions offer characteristics well beyond the requisites of a professional divers’ watch and are water resistant to 600 metres/2000 feet. Other features that distinguish these professional divers’ instruments are the screw-in crown and screw-in case back, the Helium Escape Valve, the fluted uni-directional rotating bezel and the highly visible hands.

Positioned at 10 o’clock and embossed with the chemical symbol for helium “He”, the red gold helium escape valve allows any trapped atoms of this gas that might damage the watch to escape when expansion occurs during decompression in a diving bell. The chronograph push buttons, made of red gold and decorated with a black aluminium ring, are functional to 600 metres/2000 feet while the domed scratch-resistant sapphire crystal has received an anti-reflective treatment on both sides for optimum clarity.

Previously only available with a sporty matte dial, the Red Gold Collection is offered with a new elegant and glamourous semi-matte black dial enhanced by a red gold Omega logo. The applied red gold luminous hour markers are combined with Arabic numerals placed at 12, 3, 6 and 9 o’clock. The date window is positioned between 4 and 5 o’clock on the chronograph’s dial while on the other models it is found at 3 o’clock. To complement the red gold facetted arrowhead hour, minute and seconds hands, white Super-LumiNova replaces the more common green material.

In the case of the chronograph, the sub dials for small seconds, 12 hours and thirty minute totalizers are placed at nine, six and three o’clock respectively and feature applied golden surrounds. The black aluminium 60 minute track ring on the uni-directional rotating bezel also features red gold details.

The chronograph version is fitted with the caliber 3313, a self-winding mechanical movement with a power reserve of 52 hours. The column-wheel mechanism serves to perfect the chronograph’s performance. It ensures a smooth start to the sweep of the seconds hand when the chronograph is activated and provides precision stop and reset functions that do not interfere with the main timekeeping of the watch.

The non-chronograph versions are fitted with the caliber 2500 and all the Planet Ocean Red Gold Collection features the Co-Axial escapement, proprietary OMEGA technology, that considerably reduces friction in the heart of the watch mechanism and offers improved long-term reliability and accuracy. Both calibres are COSC-certified chronometers and further improved by a free-sprung balance. Although the new models have a solid case back, the rhodium-plated movements have been given a luxurious finish: the bridges are decorated with attractive circular graining, Geneva waves and gold-plated engravings. The final flourish is a Seahorse medallion that decorates the screw-in case back.

All three variants (45.5mm automatic chronograph and automatic, and the 42 mm automatic) are available on a comfortable brushed red gold OMEGA patented “screw and pin” bracelet with polished sides or a handsome integrated black alligator strap that sits seamlessly alongside the case offering increased comfort and aesthetics. The foldover safety clasp is fastened onto the wrist with an easy to use release mechanism.

James Bond 007 Collector's Piece

The James Bond 007 Collector’s Piece is back . . . in black!

Wednesday 12 March 2008

OMEGA presents the new version of the Seamaster Diver 300m James Bond
which collectors and fans have treasured since 1995.

For the past decade, Her Majesty’s Secret Service agent 007 has been wearing an OMEGA Seamaster watch. Fans of the iconic spy, along with enthusiasts of fine watches, wait in anticipation of each new version of the timepiece.
Their patience will soon be rewarded. OMEGA will be releasing a special update of the incredibly popular Seamaster Diver 300m James Bond watch which has been worn by 007 since GOLDENEYE.

The « James Bond 007 Collector’s Piece » is the most elegant version yet and the next step in the evolution of the Seamaster Diver 300m James Bond watches.

Anyone familiar with the classic James Bond’s watch with its trademark blue bezel will be in for some surprises!

Visually striking, the « James Bond 007 Collector’s Piece » features a polished, lacquered black dial with black gold plated hour markers filled with white Super-LumiNova. The luminous hour and minute hands are also plated with black gold. The watch has a central seconds hand with a red tip and a red “007” logo as a counterweight which rotates in stark contrast to its black dial. Only 10,007 pieces of this exclusive Seamaster will be produced. Paying tribute to OMEGA’s long partnership with the world’s favourite secret agent, it is destined to be an instant collector’s item.

The watch has a distinctive polished and brushed stainless steel case with a diameter of 41 mm. Its specially-designed bracelet is unique to the James Bond watches and is one of the features which makes them immediately recognisable. The watch has a scratch-resistant, anti-reflective domed sapphire crystal.

The « James Bond 007 Collector’s Piece » is not only aesthetically dazzling. James Bond would be disappointed with any technology that wasn’t the most advanced in the world and this watch meets his most exacting demands. It features OMEGA’s calibre 2500 self-winding movement fitted with the revolutionary Co-Axial Escapement, which reduces friction while offering better long-term accuracy,

The watch is a certified chronometer with functions essential to professional divers. Its screw-in case back (with a “007” medallion) and stainless steel screw-in crown featuring an OMEGA logo ensure water resistance. The watch also has a unidirectional rotating bezel with a distinctive black aluminium ring. A helium escape valve allows helium atoms to escape during decompression, particularly necessary for professional divers operating from diving bells. As its name suggests, the watch is water resistant up to 300 metres.

The presentation case is nearly as striking as the watch itself. Crafted from black leather, its black interior calls to mind the lining of the tuxedos which are as synonymous to Bond as the OMEGA Seamaster Diver 300m watches he’s been wearing for more than a decade.

While some of the advanced features will appeal particularly to divers, the « James Bond 007 Collector’s Piece » will prove irresistible to fans of 007 and to anyone interested in elegant, distinctive, state-of-the-technology watches.
The newest film, Quantum Of Solace, produced by Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli for EON Productions and directed by Marc Forster, will be released internationally in November 2008. Daniel Craig will reprise his role as James Bond for this 22nd film in the Bond series.

Countdown to Beijing - Minus 188 Days

Swiss luxury watchmaker OMEGA presents the third phase of its Beijing 2008 Olympic Games Collection with two Limited Edition Seamaster Aqua Terra Chronographs. The timing of the launch continues the "lucky number 8" theme of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games Collection: 2 February 2008 represents "Minus 188" days until the Opening Ceremony. The first Limited Edition watches were presented 8 August 2007, one year prior to the Opening Ceremony. The launch of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games Collection followed at Minus 288 days - 25 October 2007 - and reaches its third stage on 2 February 2008, at Minus 188 days.

A further Limited Edition collection will be released at Minus 88 days, and 8 August 2008 will see the initial release of the Seamaster XXIX Limited Edition, set to continue with a new limited edition watch bearing each day's date throughout the Games of the XXIX Olympiad.

The launch of the Seamaster Aqua Terra Chronograph Limited Editions presents one of OMEGA's most popular Seamasters in models that combine 18-carat red gold and stainless steel. Limited to 2008 pieces each, both models feature the five coloured rings of the Olympic Games logo, which form the counterweight of the central chronograph seconds hand.

Seamaster Aqua Terra Chronograph Limited Editions
These Beijing Aqua Terra Chronograph models feature a striking black dial with opaline silver totalizers. The 30 minute totalizer at 3 o'clock, 12-hour totalizer and date window at 6 o'clock and the small seconds counter at 9 o'clock. The polished stainless steel caseback is stamped with the Beijing 2008 Olympic logo and engraved with the Limited Edition number (1/2008). The caseback logo and the coloured rings on the chronograph seconds hand highlight OMEGA's continuing role as Official Timekeeper of the Olympic Games.

The heart of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games Collection's Seamaster Aqua Terra Chronograph is the exclusive OMEGA calibre 3301 self-winding chronograph movement. With its 52-hour power reserve, official chronometer certification and column-wheel chronograph mechanism, this calibre is also fitted with OMEGA's proprietary free-sprung balance, which ensures the stability of the watch's performance over long periods of use. Both Aqua Terra Chronograph models have a domed sapphire crystal with anti-reflective treatment on both sides and are water-resistant to 150 meters/500 feet.

OMEGA and the Olympic Games
OMEGA has an unparalleled history in sports timekeeping. First named Official Timekeeper at the Olympic Games in Los Angeles in 1932, OMEGA's expertise in sports timekeeping and ability to deliver precise and reliable results led to the company's repeated appointment as Official Timekeeper; Beijing 2008 represents the OMEGA Timekeeping team's 23rd Olympic Games.
