In an announcement dated 7 March 2012, Hamilton announced on their website a new model for 2012.

The INTRA-MATIC

The styling draws from it's models from the 60s. It measures just under 7mm high, with a choice of a 38mm or 42mm diameter case minus the crown. It will be powered by their 2892-2 movement.
More details and specs will hopefully be released during the Basel expo.

Take a number and get in line. I've already checked to see if I have a C.D. at the bank I can cash-in ( sadly, I don't).
This puppy just displaced a Christopher Ward C5 on the #1 slot of my wish list.

finally,

the tide is going out on ridiculous sized watches.

I'm with you Bill,

that looks like my next modern acquisition.

I don't know what makes you say that. Hamilton has been offering their Jazzmaster watches in smaller sizes for years, and they are still offering a 42mm version for those of us who like full size watches.

sorry,

but anything bigger than 38mm is too big.

all of the Viewmatics except the 37mm qualify as such.

Well, because some of us, especially old farts like me, don't get why a watch has to be as wide as your wrist. For some of us, 38mm is just about the perfect size. In fact, the favorite Hammy in MY collection is the Amherst which measures 25mm without the crown and 28mm without the lugs.

Variety is the spice of life I guess. I happen to be a very large person so I will be ordering one of these in 42mm. Can't wait.

If you remove the occasional woman wearing a man's watch (as an example: eRelyx' pics of supermodels wearing Rolex Cosmographs) from the equation, I'd hardly consider 38mm to be a ladies watch.

Sorry...no 38mm Hamiltons in my collection.

This is a nice watch. It would be perfect if they removed the date.
Hamilton has ruined several great designs by adding a date window.
