My wife just recently acquired a Longines watch, and she would like some info as to year, model, and whatever else she can find. We took the cover off. Inside is stamped Longines-Wittnauer 8135 14K Gold L&W 30182. The Serial Number is 51448635. It is a silver colored watch, although some of the pics look yellow. I would appreciate any help since she's spent the last couple days and nights trying to find some info.

The case would be solid gold from the markings, but the band is only gold plated or gold filled - at least that's what the green stuff on it usually means. The serial number dates it to 1932. L&W was an American casemaker who made cases to Longines' specifications and sent them to the NY Longines-Wittnauer plant where the imported movements from Switzerland were installed into them. 8135 is the case reference number and 30182 is the case serial number.

Thank you for the quick response ulackfocus. From reading other posts, you are a wealth of knowledge on watches :thumbup1: Any idea on what this watch is worth? Also, is there a name for the watch?

Lady's watches aren't as desired as men's to collectors. The value lies in the gold. There might not be a name for it.
