OK all you "BallCall" preorder folks...it seems that the Ball Watch Co has put the squash on using the word "Ball" in our new watches. I liked "BallCall"... thought it was pretty good! I like "Naviator" too...also very good. So to get something going...what's your take on this development?

On the downside delivery has been pushed back to November...I can live with that...I assume it's to change the wording on the watchface.

Curtis was so close and now this...what a pain...I can only hope that he does not have to trash all the faces to reword them...bummer.

You better check again...Curtis had a post on his Facebook page regarding the Ball Co. lawyers...next thing I see on his website is no more "BallCall" and the new "Naviator". I assume he'll be updating us on the situation soon.

Well, I think the idea someone might confuse a Ball w/a Stolas is pretty absurd....unless you're the kind who'd confuse a Corvette with a pickup. I just hope the Navy doesn't sue, Stowa watches doesn't accuse them of "too similar a name", NATO doesn't slap an injunction for using "their" straps...the rediculous list can go on and on.
As far as "Naviator", it's kinda catchy. Makes an explanation to someone who asks about the watch a lot easier than trying to explain what "Ballcall" means. I like it.
Thanks for the heads-up, Wingnut---this is the first I heard about it. But then, that's what these forums are for.

I'd seen the Ball lawyer post, but that didn't sound like Stolas was going to actually change anything. Guess I'll have to jump back on their site and clear cache... I must be looking at an old page.

It still shows the "BallCall" on the "Collections" page of the website, you need to go to the "Shop" page and the new info is there...

Yes we are creating a bracelet for it but we will be releasing it at a later time. This is to stay within the "pilot" scheme with the leather.

That's pretty ridiculous IMO. They have a big pair of, well you know whats for this. Maybe the US Dairy industry should sue Ball Watch for using "Cow" on one of their watches. :001_rolleyes:
