My first Rolex-appraisal and authentication?

I received a TT Submariner w/ the slate serti dial for my birthday from my wife. It is a K serial# and was bought from a reputable jeweler (not authorized dealer) in business for 25 years. I want to have it appraised as well as authenticated. I found a jeweler nearby to do this. They as well have been in business for a long time. The charge to do this is $75.00.
