I recently bought a mechanical pocketwatch and today when I went to change the time on it by popping up the crown, when I finished the crown would not go back down. Now I cannot rewind the clock in order to have it in a working condition. I have no idea how or why this happened and less of an idea on how to fix it. Any help, either with identifying the problem or solution, would be greatly appreciated.

If it won't pop back in, the sleeve that the stem, which the crown screws onto, may have broken or the stem was too short and became disengaged from the hole in the winding gear.
