Trying to find out any ifnormation about the following old Tudor Oyster watch, which I believe is an early Rolex?? It looks like someone has tried getting the back off without success (due to the marks on the back!!)
ANyone know what year this could be and what the approximate value is?>? I have a number of different make watchesthat I am trying to find out more information on.

Tudor is indeed made by Rolex. This watch appears to be from 1947. It has the Original Rose Tudor logo on the dial from that period. The logo was used up until 1947 and the initial launch of the Tudor Oyster was also in 1947, which is why I think that is the year of the watch. It's a manual wind ETA movement. I not up to snuff on my Tudors. Value on my part would be speculative.

can not add anything, I think Chris is spot on.
The hands are either (correct) replacements or cleaned up, originally they were filled with Lumin material. The minute hand looks empty (see through) not sure if the hours hand is clear or not.
